My question is, does the Mustang GT have a stereo input jack and do I use a standard none stereo plug or should I use a stereo plug. I have a Lucille by epiphone that has the stereo capability.

It's a standard mono instrument jack.

Yep, mono. I think u asked this recently i think at the tele forum. I know u r probably just trying to get as many replies as you can to be sure the first answer was right, but i assure you it's mono. I think the reason you are probably thinking it should be stereo is because the GT40 is stereo, and it is. But it is only stereo in that it has 2 power amps and speakers and uses stereo effects from a mono guitar signal to create a stereo image. It's like this....mono guitar signal> input stage>stereo effect>and this is where the signal is split in stereo when using stereo effects and goes to the left and right amps/speakers.

So i think you were just confused as to how the GT40's stereo capability works. But the input is mono and requires a mono plug and signal. If you put a stereo plug in it whatever signal is on the ring with be shorted to ground or just go unused depending on the way the plug is wired. So for example if you plugged a stereo guitar like your lucille into it and lets say the neck pickup's signal goes to the ring and the bridge to the tip, your neck pickup wouldn't work because any signal on the ring (ring being the section of the plug thats in the middle between the ground sleeve and tip signal) would as i said be shorted to ground or just unused. Thats just an example assuming thats the way the stereo out work on the lucille tho i''m not familiar with it. But you should get the gist of it from this.

Okay...thank you all for your answers. I understand now. It's just I wasnt sure when I saw the word stereo. Didn't want to have something go wrong. From what I read about the Lucile it appears I can use the guitar using 2 amps. I'm going to have to do some more research but I'm pretty sure that's how it works. Once again thank you.

Thats right....i think i remember now....doesn't the lucille have 2 jacks? So each one must be for one pickup. And i imagine it must have a switch that combines them for mono.
