So I am currently gigging small bars and even some larger bars occasionally. I play in an original band, and I wondering if I should stick to the Mustang Gt100 as my go to for awhile longer or make the upgrade to something else. Problem is I actually like the versatility of this amp I personally think it models all the fender amps near perfectly. The other amps can be here or there. I personally put in a lot of time in finding the right tones on this amp by using the effects pedals and downloading presets and molding it how I want from there. It does take awhile to get what you want but it definitely achievable. My question is, is how long can you go with this kind of amp with the app glitches holding much of the functionality and limits the ability to build a long effects chain to trust on stage? Can this amp be trusted for awhile in the bar scene and maybe some slightly bigger shows for awhile or trade up and out? wish I knew more about fenders plans with this amp I can see it going both ways, becoming an amazing traveling band amp due to its light weight and versatility. But I can also see it being just another digital amp an then here comes MUSTANG GT V2!

I was thinking of hooking up a orange amp head to the cab and maybe being able to use the fender cabs and heads and for distortion use the orange amp head. HHHHMMMMM

Yeah, theres the tone, then theres the switching limitations. I'm ok with switching sin ie i don't need it much, tho when i do 's so buggy it sometimes does things i dont want it to or doesn'tddo what i DO want it to. but i can still live with that and just hope fender improves things thru firmware.

But the one thing it must have is tone. i just used it saturday with the band and i got some great tones that rivaled anything i've owned in the past, and some that didn't. just like you said. But thats not the amps fault. it's the fault of modeling amps in general because when you have so many options it takes time to work things out live because as you know, live is the true test and you can't just dial things in at home and expect them to work live. So you have to play it out a number of times before you really dial it in. Thats the way it was with my MIII also. Took me many times out b4 i nailed it. With tube amps the designer dials it in for you in it's circuitry and the few knobs you have are just there for fine tuning. usually first time out they sound about as good as they ever will no matter how much you play with knobs. With a modeler YOU are the designer and just like the designer does with tube amps, you have to do the R&D. Its the nature of the beast. Tube amps are tweaked and gigged, tweaked and gigged many times till they get it right. I built tube amps and did that for about 15 years so i know how that works. With a modeler your soldering iron is a little screen with a zillion settings and you tweak and gig, tweak and gig etc etc, till just like the tube amp designer you get it right. It's both the achilles heel of the modeler and what makes them so good. But it's work for a time. By the way, saturday was my first outing with the WGS speaker and it passed with flying colors. Some of the best tones so far and no harsh tinny tone like the stock one can bring.

That is NOT a problem, it's an advantage!

This is very very true!!! you have to learn how to dial it in it takes time. I rather enjoy it sometimes cause its like making your own unique sound. I read a comment in one of the other threads that you almost have to make patches specifically for the house or headphones, and others for only live, the are two totally separate things, that has helped my tone a lot in both situations. I really do think that some of the patches are amazing and the fender ones can come so close its so impressive. I usually go to the orange amp for my distortion and I found using the compressor can sometimes add to volume and to the cleans or even distortion make them more tight sounding which I like a lot. I am really wondering if I got and orange tiny terror could I run it to the Mustang and use the head for strictly heavier distortion and switch back to the Mustang for everything else.

I really like the Orange distortion on the GT40, especially with the Rangerboost in front of it :D
