I'm wondering if fender really is considering letting tone be downloaded through laptops an nooks, tablets, that aren't phones just computers... I have a nook an it would be just a pain to buy an iPad just for the ability to use tone app. It would come in handy on stage I already use my nook for lyrics via harness to my mic stand but obviously I can't use tone! The options on the effect chain would be so wide open if you added in the use of a tablet or whatver live to turn on other stompbox effects or what have you... I'm tying to be patient cause i think fender will eventually fix it for all formats cuz we need to be able to backup our presets like we use to on the old mustangs. Hopefully this is something fender will do. I'm in limbo till then... keep waiting for the nook an everything else to get their day or buy an iPad.. a phone screen is much to small to use on stage the pad screens are perfect an if fender doesn't plan to release any more additions to the pedal like more switches or something i would hope we get the tone app on all devices atleast anyone heard anything on that front. Brad? Or what's on the horizon for the newest biggest issues with the updates coming out?

Apparently, you can install Android 7 (Nougat) on a Nook or Nook HD. See here - https://nookhdplusandroid7.wordpress.com/ Seems like a very low cost way of running the Tone App - if it works.

This is pretty cool, have you been able to try this? also will it totally wipe out my stuff on there when doing this, similar to a system restore? it doesn't to hard to do, I should be able to figure this one out if it indeed does work and allows me to use tone through my nook this will make me extremely happy! if this worked for you please let me know any details you can. much appreciated man!

Really hope fender just makes the app open you all devices, I don't see why not... we could backup our presets, do the jam tracks stuff again like the old mustang program, I'm so conflicted on whether to give in and get an iPad cheap or refurbished :/ or just waiting on for the nook an everything else to be able to update to use the tone... I may try this method. It looks a little tech savvy for me.. but not to much I followed most of it.. I just worry that it doesn't work, or it does an the tone app still doesn't work... Im not sure if fender made it pc available if I could even get it on my nook or not without that upgrade! Sucks to cuz the nook has some really nice features, had a good price, I use it for lyrics now and it allows me to see the chord to songs an all that. That's why I wna try an hold
Out cuz i would have this nook here for nothing then just buy an iPad for again lyrics but to run my amp... which I may or may not keep if fender doesn't do something about the app... the reason the app becomes so important to me is cause the 4- button foot switch with all the different effect you can stack an create four buttons is crap. In a live setting having a nook or whatever clipped to your stand would be nice to have a row of pedal ready bar your finger tips plus the four on the floor

I'm the fellow with the Nook HD / HD+ tutorials. I don't know much about Fender guitars -- I'd probably break the strings the first time I tried playing one-- but I can definitely state that Android 7 works great on the Nook HD and HD+. If you'd like to see more, please check out my youtube video (and comments vouching for the installation) here:

Hopefully the Tone app works well on the device, the Nooks do have a full HD screen and dedicated video chip.
