Same issue here. Brand new GT 100 straight out of the box. First thing I did was update firmware as directed. Cuts out every 10 minutes or so. Both guitar and aux inputs.

rrcoons - would you mind dropping me an email at ForumAdmin@fender.com? We'd love to have you send that particular amp in to have a look at it.

And NNeira, probably going to suggest the same for you as well - dropping you a note right now.

I had a similar thing happen today for the first time. I turned the am on and no sound. I assumed it was something else so i tried the cable direct to the input and not even a buzz when touching the tip. Patch volume was up, master was up, dead silence. Turned the amp off and back on and it worked as normal. Never had it go silent from a working state tho.

yes same here pulled out pedal jack put back in ok.

Did this issue ever get figured out? Just got one for Xmas and it too is cutting out intermittently. Otherwise an incredible amp... huge jump from what I was using 15 years ago when I stopped playing. It’s going back to guitar center tomorrow but I’m curious as to whether there was an issue discovered or not.

Quick update for anyone with this issue in the future... Spoke with someone who was clearly pretty knowledgeable about this issue. First question was whether or not I had an AT&T WiFi router. I did. They know there seems to be an issue with the U-verse router, though I am on a different model. Killed the WiFi on the amp and problem solved. This was after returning the original amp yesterday.

Well, i'm gonna try that (wifi off) because mine has now started doing it. I have ATT wifi so maybe thats it, tho it never happened till now. I made a decision tho. If this doesn't do it i'm done with the mustang and will go to the other side and buy a katana. And if that doesn't sound as good it's back to tube amps. Been thru way way too much with this thing so if that doesn't do it i'm done. Last straw.

Second GT 40 AMP. Same problem. The sound cuts out for a second intermittently. Help?

You will only get support from Fender. This is a user discussion group and can't deal with amp technical issues.

Happened again tonite. It's not a 100% cutout to dead silence. Imagine you have a footswitch that drops the volume 50% when you step on it. As soon as i hit a string it;s like the pedal is depressed, then as i let it sustain about a 1/2 second after i hit the string it jumps back to 100% like i stepped on the pedal. I tried 2 guitars, 2 cables, and i tired changing patches and volume on the master. Nothing helped but restarting the amp and then it was back to normal. I then did a forced update that i hope fixes it. But because it's something that only happens now and again and usually after playing the amp for longer than 15-20 minutes which at home i rarely do, it takes time before i will know if updating worked. If it does it again tho i am done. Theres nothing left if a forced update doesn't fix it and even tho i only play out a few times a year i won't have an amp that ruins those few times. This has easily been the most problematic amp of any kind i have ever owned by a very wide margin. It's too bad because when it sounds good it's great.

On a side note, i started a thread a while back on how my amp seems a lot louder sometimes when i start it than others even with the master in the same place and now i'm wondering if this same problem is what that was, but just STAYING at the lower volume instead if switching from low to high as i described earlier.

I have purchased the GT 200 in Oct it kept on cutting out then came to a point that the sound would just not work at all. The only way I could get the sound to work was to unplug the pedal jack from the rear then reinsert it. So I took it back to Rimmers music in Dec they were good and replaced it with a new one. Fingers crossed so far so good.

I tried that too but it didn't stop it. Only turning it off then back on did. Hopefully the forced update i did will have dealt with it. Time will tell.

Oczad, do you use the EXP for Volume control and how often do you connect/unconnect it? When you experienced the volume issues was the MGT footswitch and EXP connected or not. I'm not having any issues at all with volume but I can cause some if I play around with the EXP settings and if the EXP is connected or not. I'm still testing the EXP settings, there's so many available in the GT. (the ATT Wi-Fi thing sounds legit so far but that one seems firmware fixable to me).
