I would think replacement would just have the same issues except for one possibility....fender said it was a ribbon cable issue and if u get it replaced it may have a different cable or some sort of fix for it. Make sure the one you get has metal sleeves inside the plastic sleeves for the phones and aux jacks. They were just plastic originally and recently i noticed that change which *probably* signifies a updated model as far as hardware and likely the ribbon cable was also updated if they indeed did so as they said.

As long as there is no dropping out I am good to go but nice knowing there are some updates. Never understood why those were not built for repeated use anyway. I mean I don't really use mine but still seems sill to make a jack with plastic.

Yeah, really stupid to cheap out on things like that which add a dime to the manufacturing costs when they break just looking at them. Mine broke when i used the aux to pump some tunes thru it to break in the speaker and when i pulled it out i accidentally pulled it at a bit of an angle and the plastic sleeve broke out of it. I glued it back for looks but i have heard others say thiers broke too so fender likely got complaints and notified the china based builder to use reinforced jacks. Funny....they fix that which is probably not used by many because everyone uses the BT option, but they won't fix the important stuff. The knob acceleration is still so F'd up it's a real eye roller. And that after saying they fixed it several times in updates. It's actually worse now than ever. I don't think i have ever seen another piece of gear that was so broke from day one in so many ways end never fully fixed.

I think the biggest problem with the selector knob is oxidation*. Try turning the knob backwards and forwards rapidly for ten seconds or so before turning on the amp. I find it is then nowhere near as bad. (For me, carefully changing the preset one or two clicks can jump 10 or 20 presets, and often in the wrong direction, when the knob is really bad!)

* I know it got worse during a software update, as Fender added acceleration after people complained turning the knob was too slow to adust anything. But I still think oxidation is the underlying problem, and won't be fixable except in newer hardware revisions.

Cleaning the encoder switch is easier than you might think. I haven't gone through the access procedure on a Mustang, but once you get down to it, many encoders just have a few tabs to pry up and remove the shaft and case from the contact base. You don't even have to unsolder them. Clean off the old grease and burnish the gold contact faces. Then regrease with a white lithium grease. Clean the rotating contacts and reassemble.

I never mentioned the encoder. I'm talking about the settings acceleration issues. It's not about the encoder itself, the piece of hardware. It's a firmware issue. How do i know? Because it's totally dependant on what setting you are adjusting. Some work pretty normal, others are so weird you cannot turn it slow enough to keep from going way past your target, and slightly faster and you just went from the lowest to most extreme setting. Other settings don't have the issue or at least not anywhere near as bad. If it were the encoder itself it would be an issue no matter what setting you are adjusting. There are some that are so F'd up i literally spend 30 seconds or more trying to hit a mark that should take 1-2 seconds.

This happens on the other GT models too. I have the GT200 which I purchased last Aug 2019. Used it maybe 10-15 times, total of about 4 hrs. Done this cutting out, then it just refused to boot up. The display backlight would come on and that's it. Long story short, I have a replacement coming. However I have to drive 125 miles to get it, that's the closest certified repair shop to me. I think Fender should have shipped it to me.

I hope this replacement does not have the same issues.

As yet another person with this problem I wonder what percentage of the product is broken. It's inconsistent and subtle enough that if it wasn't too bad a case it could go unnoticed.
