Hi all,
I bought a GT40 yesterday from my local music store and have to say I think it's an amazing amp. I know I've come in after the June firmware update, but I haven't got anything bad to say about it. My last amp was a Vox Valvetronix AD15VT which I always thought was great, but this blows it away!
The only tiny thing I noticed (and it's not a problem, but I'm curious to see if anyone else has noticed it too) is that when scrolling through a vertical menu with lots of items on it (eg the list of stomp boxes) the coloured entries kind of flicker for a moment before I stop on one. I notice it more when scrolling upwards rather than downwards.
Anyone else see this too? Like I say, no big deal at all, I was just wondering :D
All the best,
Pigletboy.

One thing I really like about the GT40 is that I can now try to recreate lots of the things I see on YouTube that I used to just watch in envy of the presenters with all their amps and pedals.
For example, a while ago I saw a video about how to get close to The Edge's delayed tone on 'Bad' - a Vox AC30 amp, short feedback modulated delay, a small amount of compression, lots of deep reverb...that's a lot of things to buy, but all of those things are there on the GT40! :D

Yeah, the UI is very buggy when it comes to scrolling thru anything, be it presets or a single knob setting. Some things have insane acceleration that goes much further then you intended unless you turn the data wheel VERY slowly. And if you go slow enough to avoid that issue then you have another....it takes forever to get where you wanna go. And theres no in between. Thats one issue. Others are what you described, or some settings that are so slow to get from 1 to 10 takes 20 or 30 turns of the data wheel. Others go so fast it;s hard to land where you want. It's all over the map. The GT's have a LOT of issues like that and some bugs that will all hopefully in time will get sorted in time. Had they been able to simply take the old V2 series mustang and insert the GT's modeling and converters into it and leave all else the same, we'd have one crazy good amp.

Thanks for the confirmation, Oczad. You never know, future firmware updates might iron those things out. I wonder if more effects and amps will be added through updates? If so that's pretty exciting!

I think / hope that with fenders big push into the digital playground we will see a lot of updates to the GT series of amps. I would imagine the tone app will have numerous updates including UI and functionality additions and I'm sure there will be many new amp models and effects.

Hi,
The 13th September firmware update has cleared up the glitching on the amp's screen, it's now really smooth and clear with no flickering at all when scrolling - excellent! :D
