I can't imagine this isn't a high priority considering around 80% of mobile devices run Android OS.

Some US companies have a history of neglecting Android in favor of iOS. One gets a feeling it's not so much about what the prospective customers use as what the directors and managers in the company use. It wouldn't surprise me if some of them think most people own an iPhone because everybody around them do.

I updated my phone to the latest version of android and the tone app found my amp. It worked but about half as slow to respond as the iPhone app. It's gonna be a long wait until my TV gets the latest update to android pushed through so I still have no chance of streaming from my TV.

That could well be. If so, its kindof arrogant behaviour. If a company did that for a high priced nobel amp it could understand. But for the entry level products its a show stopper.

That's likely not the case. For apps that cost money or have in-app purchases, it has been shown that iOS users are much more likely than Android users to pony up the dough, so developers of those apps have an incentive to develop for iOS first. Android has massively more devices of varying hardware designs than iOS, so Android development is often much harder than iOS development due to the sheer number and capabilities of the user device pool; the iOS hardware story is much more straightforward. And Bluetooth is a hot mess however you slice it; I'm wondering if the Fender devel team on the Android side is thin on Bluetooth experience (although one would think there should be reliable third-party frameworks to make BT support straightforward, I'm suspicious that Fender is using a cross-platform framework for Tone, and said framework's Android BT support sucks mightily).

Even though I'm on iOS, I definitely feel for the Android users here; Fender needs to step it up.

The Remuda guy managed to nail it on the first try, and he's not a big corporation with a big budget.

And that's an interesting take on Bluetooth technology. I use it all the time at work and home. I find it to be pretty reliable.

Fender's strength is certainly not compatibility. Others manage to make software that are coded to mature standards and not specific OS versions or configurations. Other software will thus degrade gracefully, and works with any Android version or any web browser, not just specific named versions.
But pretty much any software product with the Fender name on it has compatibility issues, and more so than the competition. That they even list which specific versions and configurations the software works with highlights the problem that they code and test for specific platforms and not standards followed by everyone.

@arth1 - You have nailed the problem exactly. iOS is sexy and all of the producers will have an iPhone so they get focused on the iPhone as the "preferred" platform. Android is a bit more difficult to develop for AND creating a robust application can be difficult, but it sounds like the current Android version of the Tone App is a real dog. Perhaps as others have surmised, the developers are using a cross platform support library. That, I can say with complete certainty, is a recipe for disaster given the differences in OS architectures.
All that said, I'm trying to get a feeling for whether there is a large enough Mustang GT community to make developing a Mustang GT version of Remuda worthwhile. So the question is, do you feel that a full featured version of an Android app is worth paying for? Open invitation to other reader to chime in with their thoughts. Regards. Robert

Google play rating 1.9 out of 5. Fender should pay you to develop an app that does what they said they would provide.

Really glad to see you chiming in Robert and a wonderful commentary. Fender should be contacting you. I have no idea why they haven't contacted you so far and a big mistake on their part but there is always politics as usual,... always. Your Remuda rocks and your baby!

I commented on an earlier post why Android was more difficult to develop because of so many versions of the Android phone. I am not into proprietary OS with product line.

With Google Play ratings, keep in mind that you can't give less than one star. This is deliberate by Google to make scores appear higher, and sell more.
Subtract 1, then multiply by 2.5 to get the score on a more normal 0-10 scale
1.9 stars = 2.25 out of 10. Can anyone find any piece of software from a world known company with that low a score?

Yes, I would pay for a solid android app, and if it also ran on one of the
android desktop linux distros, around $50 would be cool.
Cheers

Personally I don't see why I should have to pay for a solid, working Android app. Fender advertised this in their promotion of the GT and have not delivered.

I use Remuda with my Mustang iii and it is what I would consider a "bonus" feature that Rob has developed and is much appreciated, however, it's not the "core" product, this is Fenders responsilbilty.

As I said on one of the other threads, I got so frustrated I sent the amp back and am unwilling to pay even more money for something that I expected to work in the first place.

I surrendered today. I bought a Mustang II V.2. Don't know what I will end up doing with the GT, probably put it on Craig's list along with all the other garage sale items.
Totally disappointed in Fender on this one. However, I guess looking back this is their first really big fubar...overall they still offer the best equipment in the world.

In response to, Robert's question, yes I would pay for a functional Android app.
