Apparently they're working on this according to a email conversation with a rep today. Not sure exactly what it will be....tone app for PC or what., But he said we should be able to do preset backups. So more good news. The save feature they are adding in the next update was mentioned recently too, so regardless of what naysayers keep saying fender IS working on the firmware to give the consumer what we've been asking for. Give them time ! I just wish they would keep us updated as to whats coming. If not for that email back and fourth I've been having with them we'd never know about this till it happens. Not very advantageous for fender. Brad, you should announce all new features/fixes the second you know about them. it would certainly help curb some of the negativity.

As a member of the development team, he will be bound by an non-disclosure agreement - as any company employee would be. Reps will tell you what they think that they can get away with, and may even be rumor.

Whoever the boss is, can, and should, modify any NDA that is not
in the investors best interest. One can declare what will be fixed
and enhanced, without releasing code, part numbers, or trade secrets.
Nothings carved in stone here, except perhaps management stubborness,
and they'll listen to the beancounters more carefully than
to a few dozen concerned customers in forums they won't take part in.

Let's just hope they hired all new beancounters
after the fan blades went brown.

I don't think anyone said the updates would dry up in the first few months after launching a new product. But Fender is like a kid with ADHD, as soon as some other more interesting (newer) product comes along, they will drop all support for this one.

You don't have to listen to me. Buy into it 100% - make sure you get all the optional pedals. :D

I don't know where anyone got the impression that Brad is involved in development of Mustang GT amps or the related software. As far as I know, Brad is Director of Web Development.

Thanks for the update oczad. I'm looking forward to buying another Mustang GT amp after returning the first one for WiFi issues. I hope it really was a fault and the next one will work fine. I'm all for any improvements in the amp and I would use the PC/tablet app.

They need to open-source the code for the tone app.

Don't look for that happening. Not the least because the app is so craptacular (1.8 out of 5 stars on Google Play is about as bad as any app can get) that the risk of making themselves a laughing stock if people saw the code seems rather high.

oczad, totally agreed! And, honestly, we're pretty much already doing that - stuff gets posted in the support knowledgebase and then gets shared here as well as it becomes available.

We have pretty thick skins 'round these parts and try not get too fazed by any negativity around launches of this nature, not to worry - it's actually very helpful to see folks express concerns as they have them, as it can really help shape future updates to the firmware and whatnot. (Within reason, of course - when folks start getting particularly nasty and/or all-out threatening with comments, that's when the rarely-used thread delete button gets invoked. That kind of stuff just really isn't helpful or productive!!)

What folks do tend to miss on forums of this nature is that the positive feedback we are receiving on a daily basis around this release actually significantly outweighs the negative. It's actually been a very well received introduction for us, and we're looking forward to making it even better as time goes on!

I can only imagine ! (having to have thick skin) I feel for you guys because i DO know what you're dealing with and for you it's just a no win situation. I know what it;s like to have people suggesting untrue things about you and no way to assure them they're wrong. It's rampant on internet forums between members and at times even companies like fender have to deal with the same BS. I've been treated more than fair by Brett in dealing with the issues mine had. And i spent quite a bit of time communicating with him by phone and email and thru all that you'd have to be an idiot to think he was BS'ing me about what fender is going thru to make this amp right. No one on earth is THAT good an actor ! But you will never convince those few because they can't forsee the crap you have to wade thru all while having to keep a smile on your face and a considerate attitude no matter whats being thrown at you.

I went thru a similar thing with fender in the 80's when they had a office in diamond bar i believe it was. They had a new guitars with a locking nut that was lever activated and i bought one and had problems with it. They helpd me out with it a number of times and kept sending me new versions to try and had me come out and show them what i;d found at one point. They were really concerned and committed to trying to make that thing work. Unfortunately it never did work quite right even with the improvements. But it was more than apparent they were committed and willing to make it right if possible unlike those who just post negative response after negative response. I have zero doubt that when fender doesn't come thru in some way theres a reason which often cannot be made public for the simple reason that there will always be some who will call you on every little thing and stifle your ability to be a progressive company like you have to be with digital products. . It's the nature of business in development and progress. You have to be able to read between the lines, something which many on these forums are incapable of doing. I for one appreciate fenders efforts. Remember the old saying...." you can please some of the people all the time....." u know the rest....
