I'd love to hear some examples of the GT amps. My first impulse was to grab a GT-whatever to use as a recording amp, but after reading some of these posts, I'm kind of glad I waited. Granted, I have occasionally miked my Mustang III V1 amp, but 99% of my recordings have been made by recording it direct via the USB interface using the ASIO driver. I use Adobe Audition 3.0 as my DAW and listen to the mix via some small studio monitors plugged into my laptop's headphone jack. But I monitor the Mustang via its speaker - no latency that way and I can control the volume via the Master volume pot without affecting the USB output. I think there are some monitoring options in Audition where I could listen to the USB output in "real time" but it had too much latency. So I've always used the Mustang's speaker as the monitor for the guitar while recording with the other tracks going out through the laptop's headphone jack to my studio monitors.

So let's hear some examples of the new GT amps used in a recording. USB or otherwise. Any takers?

FYI: You can hear my Mustang III examples on the YouTube link in my signature. It's in every single electric guitar recording I've made over the past several years.

Here's a short USB recording test I made with the GT 40. I thought it sounded really nice. This is one feature of the amp that I really liked, it did make nice recordings. Too bad the blue tooth issues drove me crazy. Maybe if they get them fixed I'll buy it back ...??

Thanks, djwayne. What kind of guitar were you playing?

This article has the goods to establish your best possible latency.

Reaper, Mixbus, and Bitwig all have demo versions worth using.
Reaper is free for 60 days, and has a generous license pricing thereafter.
Cheers

Latency is a moot point, since I am completely happy monitoring using the Mustang III's speaker. Using this method, I get no latency from the playback of the other tracks while recording the guitar track, so I'm good to go. Using Adobe Audition 3.0, there are two options for monitoring - "Audition mix" and "External". If I use Audition mix, there is just enough latency to be annoying. If I use External, there is no latency, since the guitar track being recorded isn't trying to be played back simultaneously. I simply use the Mustang III's perfectly good speaker for monitoring. I can adjust the master pot to adjust my playback level without affecting the record level. Don't other DAWs have this option?

Latency is a side effect of system configuration and optimization,
so taking a few hours to insure best practices, will also benefit other work
done with your computer. It's also unlikely your needs and workflow
will remain static over the next 5 or 10 years, and having basic familiarity with
multiple daws, and the ability to benefit from their tools and content,
is future proofing a string of good luck.

Fine. Now back to the subject of this thread...anyone else care to share some Mustang GT amp USB recordings?
