yeah but at least there is a PC app. I think the problem with the GT is they released a non-functional Android app with no PC app to fall back on. What are the android users supposed to do, go out and buy an iPad, thus doubling the cost to connect?

Speaking of Katana btw ... their app is called "TONE STUDIO". Not very original to call the new Fender app "TONE". Know your competition.

There's a dumbing down trend now, naming things as simple as possible. The worst example was possibly Sony, who renamed Walkman to Music. But "Tune" and "Tone" is up there too. As the adage goes, make things as simple as possible but no simpler.

When it comes to names, I also don't know how they get away with "Mustang GT". Especially since there are new Mustang GTs coming out now. What's next? A Fender Quattroporte GTS?

"Code" :lol:

I thought the name Mustang alone was an odd choice, since there was already a Fender Mustang guitar.

Yes, seems a bit lazy to recycle brand names like that. Why not just Fender GT-xxx. It would avoid the confusion, although if you look back at Fender amp names from the past, some of those are quite confusing too.

I am sure Fender uses "Mustang" because they already own the license for that moniker. As for "GT" - Ford cannot restrict use of initials or acronyms. "GT" conceivably is an abbreviation for "guitar" as much as "gran tourismo." Wonder if a Mustang BS is coming down the pike?

'Mustang Fast Back' was the mantra here for awhile, pending firmware promises!

(mines a keeper, while hoping for a computer editor)

I think an appropriate name for this amp is the Yugo GT and the interface Fender TOMB.
Contact Fender Customer Nervous like I have done and there truly are nervous about this amp and no help at all.

Fender, in all fairness you should authorize all returns for this product. It doesn't work as advertised. People have waited for you to fix the problems through software/firmware updates and are now stuck with it.

I am on the list of those who have hung in past store return policy hoping Fender will make things right. Now I am fretting over doubling-down and dropping another $80 for the footswitch or waiting to see if either Fender fixes the problems or if I have to make a warranty claim to get my money back. :|

Fender should be reaching out to its existing GT owner base on an individual basis on this PR nightmare.

The thing about forums, customer reviews, and letters to the editor are; typically the negative comments outweigh anything else.

Now, I am a noob to the whole Mustang line, but certainly not with respect to tube, ss, or modeling amps. I still own both of my original Fender amps; a '68 BandMaster and a '68 Twin Reverb. I bought them in '70 and '72 respectively. I've been using Avid's Eleven Rack in my studio for 5 years. I've had other various modeling boxes and pedals over the past many, many years.

I bought my Mustang GT200 the last week of June this year, and had it only a few days before the firmware and iOS updates.

While I did have difficulty in retrieving the initial firmware update, (I had to do a forced update) I had no issues in retrieval or application of the June firmware update. BTW I downloaded and thoroughly read the manual weeks before I made my final decision to purchase. Just the way I am wired.

I don't have an iPhone but I do have an iPad. There seems to be some glitches while using it, playlists not updating, between the amp and Tone, ie I create one on the amp and rename it, and I have two on Tone. Delete it from the amp and create a new one, and I have 4 on tone. Annoying but not insurmountable.

The wifi and blue tooth connectivity was never a selling point for me, but it does appear to work fairly well.

As I expected, the Fender amp models are very good, in my opinion. Not the presets mind, but the models. Presets are only a place to start, in my opinion, and you go from there.

I know nothing ever happens fast enough when you have an issue with something, such as needing a sw or fw update. But I do have high hopes for the future of this product. I can see a lot of potential.

I could see adding more amps, more FX, etc. in the future.

Is my Mustang GT200 perfect? NOPE. Will it do what I purchased it to do? Absolutely. All day long.

 Are you talking about the "quality" of the Quattroporte's double clutch gearbox?

This is absolutely true, but you can still compare the feedback for product X with the feedback for product Y.
And if looking at the feedback for the Fender Mustang GT compared to the feedback for competing products like Marshall CODE and Boss Katana, the feedback for the GT seems to be worse. Mind, Marshall has gotten flak too, but from what I can tell, not anywhere near what Fender has.

A quick look at the Google Play stats:
Marshall Gateway: 3.6 stars (6.5 on a scale from 0-10)
Fender Tone: 1.9 stars (2.3 on a scale from 0-10)

A quick search through YouTube gives a similar impression for the amp itself. There are far more reboxing videos for the GT than the CODE or Katana, for example. And comparative reviews seem be heavily weighted towards the competing products being better.
And a couple of big dealers known for posting positive reviews of products they sell appear to have chosen not to post reviews of the GT.

My hope is that Fender sees this as a learning opportunity, and criticize themselves, not those who criticize Fender. After all, the GT should have received a better reception than the CODE and Katana. But from all appearances, it has not.
Who will stop the buck as it passes?

All true.

But: before I pulled the trigger I watched all YT vids I am aware of. Even the reboxing stuff. Those guys talked a lot. But not so many actually played the amp in a proper way for a particular sound.

Then I came across this video. A *good* guitar sounds needs more than just a decent amp and guitar. Foremost it needs good fingers. The amp sounds from this video show what the GT can do when played properly, and its excellent taking into account the GT's price tag:

https://youtu.be/PTVK0jQxjDc

Having said that: The functionality (or non-functionality in my case) of the app on android is really dissapointing and MUST be improved SOON.

try using an Android device and see if it still does what you purchased it to do all day long.
