Keep in mind that streaming only shows how good it is as a Bluetooth speaker, and says nothing about how good it is as a guitar amp. The frequency range and signal dynamics are different. And if there are problems with the pre-amp section, you won't hear that when streaming, because that is bypassed. I'm not saying that there is something wrong, only that your observation doesn't say anything about how the hardware works as a guitar amp.

Please accept that this is a digital modelling amp. The only difference in dynamics and frequency range will be the AD-converter after the guitar input jack.

You misunderstand. The input signal from a guitar has different dynamics and frequency range than the input from bluetooth.
And no, it's not just an A/D conversion, but the guitar signal is pre-amped from instrument level to signal level before being converted to digital. The commonly available A/D converters don't work on instrument level signals. And then the signal goes through a heck of a lot more digital processing than the BT input, which only gets a volume.
So you are comparing apples to oranges here.

Yep, one analog amp before the AD sounds correct, I forgot about that. But as I said: there are some very convincing presets already. So this forgotten amp seems just fine. Especially when dialing down the volume on the guitar to clean up the amps models gain/distortion. Even the "noise" behaviour sounds quite real.

Yep again: a heck lot more digital processing. Like pre-amp and power amp models and the cab IRs. But again: this is all software. Can be made better - or worse - by firmware updates.

Hence my conclusion stays the same: no hardware problems with the GT40. Seems to be very capable and promising hardware...

I would reserve judgement about the quality of the hardware until they sort out the apparent issues with WiFi and Bluetooth.

It's probably just a case of bad programming but you never know. Maybe you can cut corners when building guitar amps but computer components are another story.

I just brought home a GT40 and I think it sounds great! I haven't tried all the sounds yet, but the Blackface and Tweed models sound awesome, at least as good as my Mustang 1 V2, probably better. I hear none of the muffled or out of phase sounds people are complaining about, even with the stereo delay on. Maybe mine has the latest firmware update already since we got them later here in Hawaii than everyone else, but I love it. I don't have a smartphone or tablet of any kind, so I won't be using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, or any of the deep settings like global EQ, cab models, sag, and all that stuff. Just settings that can be accessed from the amp itself, such as amp model, gain, tone, volume, and effects. And those are very easy to adjust using the LCD screen and dial. I couldn't be happier.

The iPhone app is convenient but not as comprehensive nor accessible as Fuse. In the beginning there was talk about Fuse conductivity for the GT, is it going to happen?

Same here. But I found that its very important to have a proper listening position, more than any other amp I am aware of. Just putting it on the floor seems too low for it.

Last night my daughter tested her bass with it. Wow! Astonishing low end at fairly high volumes! I took - who might have guessed - the bassman preset. Awesome growling, woody sound. And the gain reacts very nicely and gradually in adding some grit. Now she started to hate her own practicing amp...

I'm really impressed with the sound from my new GT40, I wasn't expecting such a large full sound from such a small amp. The 'Pigs Can Fly' preset really surprised me, it sounds absolutely massive!

Nowadays, straight up HTML5 can do just about anything that Flash and Silverlight can do. One wonders why Microsoft hasn't made a translator from Silverlight to HTML5, similar to how Adobe has been making it easier to move Flash code bases to HTML5.

But while we're wishing, I would love to see Fender update the Tone iOS app to a true universal app with proper iPad support. My GT40 is not close to a computer so having a new Fuse-like application on my Mac is low priority for me, but being able to use Tone on my iPad in landscape mode instead of portrait-only iPhone mode would be terrific. And how about being able to record the amp into GarageBand or other iOS DAW app. Supporting the iPad properly is just not that hard.

Lots of people would benefit from a new FUSE too though.

I am so disappointed in the GT that I called Guitar Center to see if maybe they had extended their return window because of the problems. The guy I talked to said he has heard about the problems be no GC is not going to change their policy. Funny or maybe sad thing is he suggested I sell the GT and get a Boss Katana....much better amp.
