Does the firmware adjust overall EQ based on which version of the amp it is running on? I'm going to guess that the answer is no.
I ask because many of the presets on my GT200 are way too bassy and muffled, leading me to speculate that many of these presets were made on the GT40, or even just through headphones from a development machine of some sort.

Using the global EQ settings for treble boost or bass cut aren't enough to get it in the ballpark. Using various single coil and humbucker guitars, I've had to try many tricks to get new or existing presets sounding reasonably lively.

I haven't even touched the EQ presets on my GT100. If need be I'll adjust any EQ from my Zoom G5n.

I never went into this amp thinking I'd do everything from the amp. If you have pedals might as well use 'em.

GT100 here, and i don't have that issue tho i think many models can naturally be like that because the actual tube amp they are modeled after may be like that. But i find tweaks that help with that. Also, I hear a lot of people seem to be having issues tonally with the 4o and 200 including phase issues so i'm guessing being stereo with dual speakers and dual amps theres a lot that can create weirdness in firmware with them. It would be interesting to see what you think of the same presets in a GT100 that u r having this issue with with your 200. I bought the GT100 in part because i don't like the idea of a stereo amp where i have no control or only partial control of how the 2 sides interact, especially in a digital and with a lot going on in firmware between the 2 signals. If i want stereo i use a second amp where i have 100% control over each signal. I've seen a lot of posts elsewhere with issues on the 40 and 200 but none at all in this respect with the 100. Anyways, no issues here, at least not with some tweaks. If i have a model thats got more bass than i want and not tight as i want i can tweak that out of it.
I'll give you one tip that may or may not work for you that i use with the bassman who's lows can get muddy. It mainly works for drive patches, tho they need not be heavy at all. Classic rock etc. Use the greenbox stomp in front of the amp model. Set the gain all the way down and level somewhere between noon and full and lower the amp model's gain to where it's good. Or try visa versa and raise the model's gain and lower the greenbox's volume, whichever works best. the GB will remove the mud and add some mids and can really clean up the low end. Did the same with my old mustang. Lots of vintage fender amps have a rather muddy low end a time depending on how they're set.

oczad, I'll check that out. Ya know... I still have my 3/30, which has an overall tone knob that I set at 9/10. I wonder if that kind of knob would have helped on the GT? I guess the equivalent of the know are the four Global EQ settings on the GT. Maybe adding some more Global EQ settings would help, I dunno...
