I know there is already a firmware requests thread, but some of us like myself aren't concerned with the tone app so i thought it would be good to have a thread dealing ONLY with requests for changes to the amp itself in firmware. I have many, but I'll leave most of them to others and just mention my 2 big ones. These for me are so necessary i'm having a bad time with this amp trying to make it work for me live because of them. Compared to the V1/2 amps, or even just compared to most ANY digital amp thats giggable, the GT is horribly crippled which is so crazy for what should be an upgrade.

I have many more, but i'll let others list thier needs. And again, lets please keep this to amp features, not tone app. Save hose for the other thread.

1. A volume boost. This could be implemented in many ways, one would be to offer it in stomps. A simple one knob volume boost that could be selected as a stomp and moved to AFTER the amp so it doesn't affect tone/drive, but gives you a variable volume boost so you can select an amount of volume boost by togging that stomp on/off. Invaluable in a live situation and would be so simple to add. Yeah, you can use the $80 volume pedal but they are much harder to use and more cumbersome that a simple button on the 4 button switch which already costs you another $80 over the amps initial cost if you have the GT100

2. The ability like the old mustang to hit the save button, turn the data knob to any slot you want and save it there. I could write a book on how many ways in which that feature is useful and all the GT offers is "save as new' which save it as yet another extra number at the top of the presets. In other words, if you got to say slot 6 and you want to save that preset to slot 3, when you save as new you can't do that, as it will automatically save it to a new highest number. IE: if there are now 110 slots, it will make a 111th slot and save it there. This has caused me to recreate patches from scratch by going into the patch and writing down ever settings, as much as a 5-10 minute operation, then going to the slot you want it in and creating it from scratch. I spent neat 1/2 hour the other day situating a few patches where i wanted them. On the old amp that literally would have taken less than 30 seconds. And the kicker is, as i realize which ones might sound different than i;d hoped live, i will have to go thru that again and again.

How about for ea. model amp the GT will reconfigure the wattage output to match the original model. So for a Deluxe Reverb the GT reconfigures itself to 22 watts, and so on for each model.

Or how about a variable power option?

Just thought of another one: visual indicators, i.e. 0-100, when turning knobs. It would be nice to know where I'm at.

The knobs on the display show where they are at, and of course they will match the physical knobs when you turn them. Do you mean that you'd like to see a numeric indicator too?

Yes.

It would be useful if you could change the background colours on a per preset basis. The small white on black type is difficult to read (I don't wear glasses normally). If you could assign blue backgrounds for 'blues tones', lime green or lemon for high gain tones and any other colours that seem appropriate, the colour coding would be more immediate when flicking through presets - yeh, leave the ones you don't use white on black. Unlike most other such devices, the Mustang GT has a good, hi-res colour screen, about time too but Fender are missing a trick here by not making use of the palette.

Preset 55 takes a long time to get to and a lot of wear on the big knob. Could we make the scrolling speed sensitive (adaptive)? Slow advance (<3 clicks per second) of the big knob is one preset, Mid advance (>3 <5 clicks per second) is 3 presets per click, Fast advance (>5 clicks per second) is 10 preset per click.

Default the power-on preset to the last used. (I'm sure this has been requested before.)

Is it possible to reconfigure the list of presets when a preset is deleted to eliminate empty amp holes.

What about the possibility to use multiple amps at the same time? for example a 80's model in the left channel and another in the right?

Very unlikely.

And why would that be? :)

Hey, maybe they'll take all these great ideas, implement them in Fender Mustang GT v2 and sell you another amp! That's what they did last time.

The hardware doesn't have the muscle. Would much rather that they put the same amp through both channels without the 'spacial' effect. That would be easy.

And why not? There are 2 xlr outs(and stereo fx loop) so u can split the outgoing signals.
