I recently purchased and registered my Mustang GT-40. I had having difficulties connecting via WiFi. I have a Sony TV which has a Wi Fi capability which I do not used, but this amp picks it up. My WiFi connection which I connect to the internet via router is not recognized. I shut down the TV to eliminate the unused SONY WiFi and entered in my WiFi information for the WiFi router modem I use all the time. I tried to have it detect on power up to no avail. I attempt to enter it via the Add Hidden Network SEVERAL TIMES and SEVERAL WAYS. GT 40 won't save the information, nor does it ever recognize the WiFi modem. So very frustrating?? 4 hours of my life. I was able to connect Bluetooth once and then never again. I have reset the Amp's setting to factory default and have downloaded the Fender Tone app to my iPhone 5s. Considered returning and did. Although I liked the GT40 for tone at low volume I traded in for a GT100 to have the XLR outputs to record and go to a PA live.

Now on to the rest of my story. I knew that I would have the same difficulties at my house with the GT100, but I decided I would give it another go. I made 3 calls to Customer Support, they were helpful and here's what they asked me to try.

A) Power off and then hold holding the Encoder and the Upper Left Soft Touch button. I did and it sought to update the GT 40 and the 100. No avail because it wasn't connected to WiFi.

B) Enter the data into the "Add Hidden Network" after selecting Menu then WiFi. I entered all information for my WiFi and it didn't work, plus it lost all of the data and reentered it several ways several times.

C) Restart the Modem Router. Did this and restarted the amp and it could see it nor connect to it even after repeating step B).

D) CS stated it only worked with the 2.4G protocol. I made certain that it was 2.4G and was informed that most dual banded Routers have both capabilities. Repeated C) and B) no avail.

What finally worked? My iphone is connected to my router, so I thought maybe I can create a Hot Spot and the Amp would see it. So I turned on the Personal Hot Spot in Settings on my iPhone 5s. I restarted the GT 100 (GT 40 was back at the store by now). I selected Menu and turned the Encoder to WiFi. It detected the iPhone "3". I selected the iPhone "3" selection entered the password as found on the iPhone in Personal Hot Spot information section. I then selected Connect. It detected the iPhone "3"!! It also gave me a green dot to let me know that it was LIVE! So, I restarted and I held down the GT100 Encoder while powering up to search for updates (I assumed off of the Fender site duh). It FAILED!!...I received a message similar to Unable to Access Server at This Time. I called back to support to see if their server was down and the person answering hadn't heard of this error, so what now. I looked at my iPhone and noticed that the WiFi icon wasn't there (upper left hand corner on the phone screen) and I was trying to connect 4G in the middle of the country, under a tin roof in the frickin' boonies!! What I didn't know was when you turn on the Personal Hot Spot it disables your WiFi connectivity on the iPhone! First Rodeo here. So... I thought I'll go outside where I know there is connectivity and try again. I put my iPhone out in the yard and the GT100 on the porch and restarted the GT 100 with the Encoder depressed. It searched for updates, then downloaded updates and initialized the updates; all via LTE two dots! The Fender Tone app works now and I have the latest firmware. So I'm good!

Yes, I bought a Mustang GT and had similar WiFi problems, the display always indicating "Loading", and never completed.

I think it finally picked up the many WiFi networks I have where I live, but the amp would never list them. The Loading indicator would never end. Hitting done, back or whatever I got into the manual mode. I manually entered the WiFi's SSID, password, etc. Still the loading would never stop. Never could connect to WiFi.

I gave up sent it back for a refund. And now I read schweinemeister's post you need a cell phone to create a hot spot? Surely this is not the case.

Why didn't his Mustang GT amp work with his regular WiFi? And will it work with an internet AT&T U-Verse 2Wire modem/router?

Check your router config. Either create a second SSID with a different name for 5GHz connections, or turn off 5GHz broadcast altogether.

When you push out a single SSID with both 5GHz and 2.4GHz available, sometimes it can cause issues. The device will connect to whichever band it "sees" first and sometimes that is a bad thing.
