As my experience with the Amplifi 75 proved Apple updates screw with apps. Plus as you can't roll back updates you've had it.

Unfortunately for me at the moment my older iPad which is loaded with amp sims and backing tracks etc won't work, even following my own instructions. Yet my everyday iPhone seems to work and another iPad mini only runs the app?
All on different iOS updates!

I purchased the GT 40 last night at Guitar Center and have barely been able to enjoy playing the amp itself as the app and amp interface have been so buggy.

I cannot maintain a Bluetooth connection with either my iPad Air 2 or IPhone 6. I have had a Bluetooth connection for maybe 10 minutes in total before it dropped and can never connect again after that. Next, when trying to connect the amp to wifi using the amp itself, it completely glitches and just goes back to Amp Preset #1 so I can't update the WiFi in order to try and get updated software which would potentially fix this.

Can the people from Fender speak to the progress that is being made on the App as I have seen a bunch of people so far who are seeing similar things. Really don't want to return the amp so quickly, but I think those who bought it deserve a roadmap forward on whether a fix is even in the works.

Thanks.

Agree. More time messing with connection issues than playing!

They are all very aware of these things. Fender support guy told me today that an update to Tone app is imminent. The amp firmware was updated today to 1.1.2.

You must not connect Bluetooth via the app AND pair through the iPad Settings/Bluetooth. THis is not made clear in the documentation. Bluetooth can only handle one connection at a time. Pair your amp via the control panel for streaming music from your iPad (backing tracks) only. If you are using the Tone app to make changes to your settings, unpair the iPad and amp and connect via the Tone app Settings/Bluetooth. Connecting both ways, even you are not streaming music at the time, will cause Bluetooth to trip over itself and will cause data corruption. If you must have the Tone app control and backing tracks, use a cable from the iPad earphone jack to the amp Aux input - but make sure you turn down the volume on the iPad before connecting as there is no volume control on the Aux jack.

Just to confirm, 1.1.2 is available now.

Great minds think alike. :-) Don't have said list this instant, but - we're working on a means to share more info as to what is included with each firmware release. In fact - may make it a "sticky" here once I have the info in hand.

Not yet - didn't manage to squeeze in any "amp time" on this end today, unfortunately. :(

Moopband, thanks for posting these observations here. Here's an excerpt from a forthcoming knowledgebase update that describes the very issue you're describing above:

Amp jumps to Preset 1 when accessing WiFi screen
If the amp jumps back to Preset 01 when trying to load a WiFi network, this is a known bug in earlier firmware versions. This issue should be resolved with firmware V1.1.0 and newer.
Here are some possible solutions:
- Move the amp to a location with fewer access points/available WiFi networks
- Use your phone as a personal WiFi hotspot in a location with fewer WiFi networks.

So, just translating the above: the glitch has been addressed in later versions of the firmware, but the trick (as you've noted) will be in figuring a way to actually get your amp updated to said firmware. The issue occurs in pre-1.1.0 versions of the firmware when too many WiFi networks are present. So, the question is ... do you have any means to connect the amp in a location which fewer WiFi networks around? As a worst case (if you're able to), maybe use your phone as a hot spot in an area with fewer networks just so you can get through this one critical update? Apologies for the hassle but hopefully it'll be smoother sailing from here forward if you can get past this initial roadblock.

Kind of what I discovered and suspected. However this should be made clear in the advertisements as it is implies you can do both!

I'm having limited success by using two devices dedicated to the seperate functions of control and playback so it can work but not from one device?
Maybe adding a music player within the Tone app could work?
Make the amp apple compatible and stream music via wifi with apple play instead?

Posting this here since it clearly is a bug.

In a separate thread I reported that presets will "jump around" when you use the encoder wheel. I've confirmed that this will happen when you have Tone connected via Bluetooth and you try to change the preset on the amp using the encoder. As you rotate the wheel presets change almost randomly. The behavior ceases when you close the Tone app. Please let me know if I need to email tech support...happy to provide additional detail if necessary...

Thanks for the response - it's pretty impossible for me to get to a space with fewer Wifi connection as I live in an apartment complex. Even when I can connect to the Amp with Bluetooth for a bit, using the Wifi in the app results in the amp continuing to return to Preset #1. So I am not sure how to get around this issue honestly as I don't think an update to the app can fix this glitch but maybe I'm wrong.
