OR "here we go again"

Initially I was stumped by the amp and Fender Tone (nothing worked). After I updated the amp firmware however it worked fine even though there is VERY limited functionality in the Android version. I was however having issues with it picking the wrong presets by one preset. Another member helped me fix that.

Initially the issue was the app just would not change any presets at all. BT was connected and all appeared fine but the amp would not respond at all.

I noticed an update to the app today and dutifully updated and voila! No more issues with missing presets etc. because the app, once again, does NOTHING. Also, there is no apparent change in the functionality of the app other than it just refuses to work. I have powered down everything, reset the presets on the amp, restarted my phone, reconnected BT to no avail.

I got an amp because I was using a Line6 Toneport and PodFarm on my PC. This worked well but the Fender models were lacking and I was tired of futzing around with launching apps and stuff before I could get the idea in my head down, I just wanted to be able to flip a switch and go.

That said, I have spent more time just trying to get this working with basic functionality than I ever did with the Toneport, it is very frustrating. The amp sits about 10 feet from my desk where I practice and record so the app capability was worth it to me for my situation and I like the tones I am getting but having to pause in the middle of a track, set down the guitar and walk over to switch or modify a preset is not convenient at all.

While we live in an iEverything world it sometimes seems Android is the most prevalent OS for tablets and smart phones out there, why Fender can't seem to get basic functionality stable and correct is beyond me.

As I have said once before on this forum somewhere, Fender has a ton of different phones to contend with in the Android market which has been my preference of choice. Never cared for the proprietary business model with Apple and I build my own computers and for others. Phones can vary even with the same OS. :)

Incredible that Fender can release this with the media message about the Bluetooth function when it is a complete dysfunction on Android.
Appalling.
I'd love to know what the time frame is on a solution.
Cannot be good for consumer confidence

Although I realize that this won't be a satisfying reply to the above, do keep an eye on this article in our knowledgebase, and also ensure you set the app to receive automatic updates (as described in the article.)

Thanks Brad, I did have the app set to auto-update, the update broke it. I will just wait patiently and monitor that link.

Ha, yes, I caught that and that's why I was simultaneously ducking for cover as I posted the info above. Anyway - thanks for being a good sport about it. Patience is a virtue, as they say.
