Is anyone else experiencing significant tone suck in the FX loop? My Fender Mustang GT 100 is new out of the box and with a standard 3' patch cable, it experiences significant tonal degradation when the FX loop engages.

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

Because your patch cable cut some frequency

With nothing connected, FX loop jacks are like a perfect wire. You'll hear all amp tone.

One of my friend loose all sound with Georges L's cable as a patch cable. Bad contact in the plug :(

This is not good news if it's true. I probably won't need the loop but there is a chance i might depending on how it works out with a band, this would really be bad for me. My MIII's look was great. If you just patch cabled it with no effect it was so transparent it was thought to hear if there was a difference. I would suggest to the op that it may not be the amp. remember....in the world's most perfect loop, how transparent it is or how bad it is is completely up to the device you use in the loop. If it is not itself transparent and changed the sound thru it, thats what it will do to the loop. I would try as many devices you have in the loop, both pedals and rack gear and see if any of them cause the tone to be transparent when no effect is engaged.

For the most accurate testing I would use a battery powered pedal.
Anything with a cord makes the devices power supply an 'effect',
even the buildings electricity could be an effect. A good ups might
be lucky for the amp, it's sound,, and any computer a Mustang is plugged into.
Cheers

jonatlasfive: from your description here, I'm going to conjecture that you must not be running the latest firmware available for the amp. There was an FX loop-related glitch that was resolved in version 1.1 of the firmware.

Have a look here if you're unclear on how to update your amp:
https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/art ... -amplifier

(Also, since we're starting to build some decent visitor activity here, a note to active members here: let's start encouraging folks to share what versions of amp firmware they're using whenever reporting issues of this kind. The golden rule is always to try updating to the latest/greatest firmware as a first step.)
