The one from my older Mustang won't fit,
the port opening on the back looks like it's for a cellphone charger.
Cheers

I bought my USB cable at Office Depot. Made by Duracell. Model # LE2189...Micro USB Charge and Sync.

It is about 10 foot long and costs around $11.00. It worked perfectly for me. I'm getting great recordings, although I need to boost the volume up 10 db.

I wasn't sure it would work but it did perfectly.

In order to record with the Mustang GT 40, you must have a recording program on your computer. You also must download the ASIO driver software found here.....

https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/art ... er-to-use-

Then you have to configure your software. I use Cakewalk's Sonar and had to set up the MME driver to get it to work...after fiddling around with the buffer I was able to get a decent recording... here's a sample of preset #97 Jazz Clean.........I don't know if recording samples are allowed on this forum, so moderator delete it if need be.....

As you can hear, once you get set up, the Mustang GT 40 does indeed make nice quality recordings....

Thankyou for your very complete answer, I'll go shopping tomorrow!

Do you by chance have the zt3a+ synth with your Cakewalk gear?
It's multi-effects plugin is a great add-on for unique but useful sounds,
as the hundreds of presets were made by pro synth sound designers,
and many sound great with various Mustang tones.
Cheers

Good news, I just was able to get the Mustang GT40 to record into Adobe's Audition CS6 program. I was having some configuration problems but now it seems to be fixed. Here again I had to use the MME driver to get it to work.

Went in search of the USB cable mentioned above as others I had did not work. Office Depot was out. Went next door to Radio Shack and got a GigaWare 6' Male to Micro part #26-1415 for $9.00. I can verify that this one works too.

I just checked the recording signal coming from the Mustang GT USB output to Cakewalk and the other day I was getting low signal, well guess what...DUH...I had the volume and gain on the Mustang turned down, tonight I turned it up while doing a recording and I got a really strong signal, perfect for recording....The other day I had my master volume way up so I thought I was recording loud but noooooo....so tonight I tried fiddling with the volume controls and was pleasantly surprised on how good of a recording signal I got thru the USB, and how easy it was to control my recording level from the Mustang GT. :)
