Hello everyone.

I picked up one of the new Mustang GT 100 amps over the weekend. I spent about 10 hours with it Between Saturday / Sunday.
Here are my thoughts and advice for anyone interested in picking one up.

Give yourself sometime to mess around with it and get familiar with the controls. Then I would do the following:
• Setup the amp to connect to your local WIFI connection.
• Update the amp to the latest firmware version.
• Change the Global EQ setting to sound the best in whatever environment you are playing in.
• Setup Bluetooth connection with your phone/tablet, etc.
• Test your Bluetooth connection by streaming a song to your amp. (Beware – your device controls the volume. Turn your device’s sound all the way off then slowly raise it or you will get a nice surprise!)
• If you are not using the Bluetooth function with your Amp do not leave it turned on. I left my phone in another part of the house and received a text message notification…..that about gave me a heart attack since the sound came out of my Amp at an ear-shattering volume.
• If you have the equipment for it, test out the effects loop and the line out function. Use the USB output to verify it also works.

Take your time with creating your own patches…try every option. I would not worry about trying to “Match” certain sounds or Amps, just keep adjusting the settings till you get something that sounds good to you.

The speaker needs to be broken in. After playing around with the amp for a couple of hours I needed to run some errands. So I set up my computer to play through the AUX input for a couple of hours at a pretty loud volume. Between doing this and playing the amp off and on over the weekend the sound seems to be getting smoother.

Also, to me the Amp sounds better placed a couple feet away from the wall. I played it in several different rooms of the house…it sounded better is some rooms than others. Don't forget to use the Global EQ settings to help adjust the Amp to the room.

Finally, I have one complaint…..There are no 4 button foot pedals available anywhere…in store or at any of the online retailers. In fact it looks like they are backordered for several more weeks. Poor planning to not have these items in stock and available for a new Amp line refresh.

If anyone has any specific questions for me ask away.

GREAT feedback here and congrats on the new purchase!

Point noted re: the footswitch. While awaiting the new MGT-4 footswitch to come in stock, older MS-4 and ULT-4 footswitches will work if you can scrounge one of those up. More details here.

I hope people give this line a chance because i can tell you being one of the first to get one, it takes a bit of time for the speaker to break in and to find out how to get the best out of it. But after that you will see a radical change in how good this amp is, and it really IS that good. I had the old MIII V2 and i thought that was a great amp to the point it caused me to give up on tube amps after 40 years of them at that point. And this new GT line is without a doubt much better. Like all modelers that have a ton of options and deep editing, they take time to get the best out of. But this one....if you take the time you will be more than rewarded. I think this may be my fav amp of all time. Thank you Fender !

Now imagine your Mustang GT 100 amp with a 6L6 power section. The big thing with any tube amp is the old style (analog) transformers.

I'll pass. I never thought i'd say this, but i prefer the GT's SS power section to any tube amp i've had because unlike pretty much all the tube amps i've had, you turn this GT up to stage volume and it actually sounds better then at low volume. The highs smooth out better then most tube amps, everything i like about the tone either gets better or stays the same. More so than any of the probably 100 tube amps i've owned. Why would i want to ruin that?
