OK after much deliberation I picked up the GT100, got it home and immediately had issues out of the box,
1) Connected fine with BT and switched a preset. After one switch app crashed and I had to power off the amp, the phone and reconnect. Same thing. I was going "Ruh-Roh"
2) Updated the firmware in the amp. The online guide misses one important step that IS in the extended manual. Read that and saw to hold the encoder wheel down when powering on and the amp successfully updated. BT was now fixed... kinda'
3) Referencing the "kinda'" above, switching the basic settings from Android works fine but switching any other preset from the phone actually selects the preset BELOW the one I selected? This may be a display problem or something and is easily worked around but still dodgy.

All in all however I DO understand that version 1 of anything is bound to have issues. I think when the Android app gets to a fixed and stable release it will work great. I got this amp for the Fender models and they work fine. It was between this and the Katana and the Fender models sold me, the amp sounds good so far so we shall see. Good price as well.

Congrats on your purchase, and thanks for sharing your experience here! Some thoughts on your items above:

1) This is going to be a recurring theme here in the Mustang GT section of these forums but is something we probably can't stress enough: really, the very first thing to do after unboxing the amp is to update the firmware just to ensure your amp is running the latest/greatest software.

2) Thanks for the note here -- although, can you clarify which "online guide" you're referring to there? (Asking as our online Support guide, extended owner's manual, and video tutorial all state holding down the encoder before powering back on ... so I'm just trying to find where we might have missed it.)

3) Our "official" statement on the Android app is here: https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/art ... 5002300286 Rest assured, there'll be updates to it coming. That said, I'll pass along your specific observation here to the app team as well!

Thanks for the quick reply Brad. Yes I understand the Android app will be updated, version 1 of ANY new release is buggy. It was more of a positive statement to answer the "not ready for prime time" quotes ;). That is the price we pay as early adopters I believe, all in all I am liking the amp overall and think that I made a good choice by waiting instead of pulling the trigger on the Katana.

As for the firmware update question please see this link from the digital support FAQ,
https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002216486-How-Do-I-Update-The-Firmware-On-My-Mustang-GT-Amp-Via-Wi-Fi.
In step 2 it should state to hold the encoder button for 5 seconds while powering on the amp, this IS stated in the downloadable extended owners manual but lets face it, most folks just want to play with their new amp and don't even read the quick start guide unless they have an issue in my experience ;)

Hey Brad, i have a question. With the fact the firmware updates are so easy on this amp and fenders talk of adding features and model, do you think there will be a lot of regular updates without long intervals in between them or like the V2 line will it likely be one or 2 of them over the course of a few years?

The App for IOS has the same bug. For example hit preset 85 and it loads preset 86 and then preset 85 disappears off the preset list or is renamed and preset 86 is listed twice. It seems to happen once you get past about preset 20..... It's odd.....waiting to see if fix comes soon. Have updated the amp and such. Both the IOS and Android app have this problem.
First I just thought it was me hitting the wrong preset, but has occurred on iPad mini, Samsung s7 and s8, iPhone 7 and 8 as well.

I can confirm that there's a team of seriously-smart dudes housed in the building I'm presently typing this from, that will be regularly reviewing feature requests and bug-squashing. As an example, I can confirm that your observations re: your experience with the EXP-1 have made it to that team for review. Naturally can't really speak to specific release cadence and how it will compare to V2.

Thanks for this additional info - passing it along as well.

I discovered the same issue regarding the presets being 1 out of sequence after I believe the 26th preset. i performed the update then went to the 'Amp Settings' and selected 'Restore Presets". It fixed the issue and gained the missing preset "Angelic Shimmer' at 108. Currently there should be a total of 109 stock presets from what I can see.
