Interesting comments Mud - I had no idea whatsoever delaerships were controlled like that. I just thought you stocked what you wanted and sold it - plus a few exclusives here and there.
If people want to buy it it seems utter madness not to have it in every location that wants to sell it.

In the words of someone I'd rather not quote "nobody knew that could be so complicated" !!

Yeah I was quite surprise by that myself, and when talking to one of the two shops that can only sell accessories, they said they just did not have the upfront money to buy the stock they need to have on hand to be a Fender dealer, because Fender just wont put it out there on consignment anymore, as they don't want to be in the finance business

It is a shame, because this local chain of music stores used to not only be a Fender dealer, but also an authorized Fender repair facility. At least the one where I bought my Mustang III V1 was a repair facility. Not sure about the other locations.

I totally agree here, the local shops used to carry new fenders, I guess at some point when a new CEO came in they change policy for the company and their shareholders benefit

"I no longer have to justify my Guitar Center purchases to any woman. I almost got married again last year, but backed out. So Guitar Center is still an option for me. :D"

Wise move. Marriage is a legal contract designed to financially protect women as they age. Thanks to no-fault divorce laws she can break the contract at any time for any reason. Then there's alimony, a monthly check for something you no longer have access to but must still pay for? Plus you're locked into a legal contract with a depreciating asset. This isn't even mentioning what you'll pay in child support. No doubt during the marriage she'll use her golden va*ina as a weapon to get you to behave the way her feminist indoctrination instructs her to. Bottom line is as long you entered into that legal contract she has you by the balls, the courts are all in her favor.

Screw all that. Go MGTOW, take the red pill, be free.

I kind of feel like Fender's modelling amps are suffering from the same problem as smartphones. There was a time I couldn't wait for the latest Samsung Galaxy S whatever. But after I got the S5 a few years ago, it does everything I need and it hasn't broken. I bought a replacement battery online, so I'm good to go for a few more years.

I kind of feel like that with the Fender Mustang III. It does everything I need, or at least that I *think* I need. Maybe if / when I do get a chance to demo a GT I'll be blown away and buy one on the spot. But until then, the Mustang III is a tried and true companion that has been through a lot, including rolling off my hand truck on a wet parking lot when I took a turn too quickly. It is times like that when you are thankful you got the the music store to throw in an amp cover, because the amp didn't suffer a single scratch after that tumble and continues to work and sound great.

So I'm continuing my musical journey with the Mustang III for now.

Here is one I recorded last night:
Pump House Prelude

It includes some vintage tremolo and wah (using the expression pedal) on a modified Twin Reverb amp model. The bass is a Rickenbacker 4003 and the drums were created with a BeatBuddy pedal.

I find it strange that the two-speaker Mustang GT 200 (200 Watts) weighs 2 pounds less than my one-speaker Mustang III (100 Watts). Where did all the weight go? Are these things made of tolex-covered cardboard? Did they sacrifice speaker magnets for the sake of less weight? It will be interesting to see how long these new amps hold up.

The GT series have solid wood cabinets whereas the v1 and v2 have heavier particleboard cabs. I do think the GT100 and 200 Celestion speakers have very small magnets for 100 watts. The GT40 has two little 6.5" FR speakers.
