I still don;t understand why anyone needs to control the amp from a phone anyways. What am i missing here? The amp has all the controls on it. Seems like one of those things thats total unnecassary fluff they did just because they could. Also worries me that when they start adding features due to customer feedback that they will add them to that instead of the amp where they should all be.

Using apps to control the amp is awesome if you're working in a studio. I can sit in the control room and make adjustments from there instead of getting up, putting down my guitar and walking in the studio to adjust something only to find out I have to do it again. Talk about buzkill

This makes no sense, why would a guitarist in a studio be in the control room
with the guitar?

The engineers sits there. The player is in the recording area, or a booth,
If a studio is seriously using wireless, both engineer and player would have
connecting devices, and normal session communication.

If the guitarist is for some reason connecting to a jack in the control room,
the amp would be there too . No buzzkill, or needless walking in either scenario.

Because a lot of times I am the engineer and guitarist and I want the amp in the studio not the control room and I much prefer to play in the control room.

I think I'd get a GT40 to keep in the control room, your preferred location
for recording lots of times. I see Guitar Center now has new Mustangs
heading up the days email, will make time to try one out on the weekend.
Cheers

I don't always record direct and even if I did I prefer using the app because it's quicker and I prefer it to using the little screen on the amp. Even on my M3 v2 I initially tweaked the amp using a laptop (much quicker) and fine tuned it from the amp or a tablet using Remunda, With the laptop I could load or save presets I had stored on an NAS drive and being able to do all that is part of the beauty of this amp and why Fender is going this route.
