And how about streaming music from my phone (MP3s)?

I'm wondering if the GT 40 sounds as good or better as the Blackstar core ID beam or the Line 6 spider five, which are also full range.

These work great for streaming music, yes. We had a full demo of the line here at HQ recently and music streaming was part of it - sound was fantastic!!

Let me check in with a few folks on the acoustic question - will circle back.

Does accoustic sound good....

First off, the full range speakers won't be breaking up,
or missing high frequencies. If you use a pickup in the guitar box,
you can couple that with the preamp or twin reverb model,
with neutral settings, cab-sim off, and then tweak the amp settings to suit
your string gauge and playing style(s).
There are EQ profiles in the new GTs that could help a lot.

You might need new string gauges, or even mix and match strings,
in case one or more make too much boom or twang.
I'll bet a nice Ovation will sound good.

There is also a clean preset somewhere in the old fuse family of presets,
all settings off, that could be an interesting starting point. I think it was
made for using software ampsims expecting bare tone to be input.

Revalver's free release has an accoustic module as a low priced
ala-carte addon, and Amplitube 4 has one, you might check to see if it's built in
to their free Custom Shop release. I've read both are good.
Perhaps your cleanest tone could go to ampsims by usb,
and come out nicely on the other side.

I've never miced an amp, so can't comment on that, beyond the benefits
of the amps speaker neutrality itself.
Cheers

I think the GT has a bypass button so you can punch it and have a neutral amp perfect for play music. Hoping Fender did like Blackstar so you can have a nice practice amp for your guitar that works as a stereo that sounds good just playing MP3s.

Excellent answers. Good stuff to think about.

And BRAD ... thanks! I appreciate your inside info and for seeing if you can get the answer on the acoustic. Appreciate it!

Steve: I went straight to the source on this one (some of the product development gurus behind the Mustang) and got an honest though not-necessarily-deeply-helpful reply: while you can use the amp with an acoustic and might even be able to achieve decent results with it, they'd strongly encourage considering something from our acoustic amps selection instead: https://www.fender.com/products/guitar- ... s/acoustic

Don't know if that helps at all, but there you have it. :-)
