Hi, joec63. Thanks, for your post. It's appreciated.

Not wanting to discourage you or others from adding that kind of related information, but for all who aren't aware, there are times when direct advertisements outside Fender's participation are unavoidable to be sure. The best we can do is limit them. (We've all pretty much been there). Fender has been great about this with the understanding that other gear and documentation is part of the whole.

Here, considered one way to meet Forum rules and guidelines, is an example that ran earlier in this thread.

Hope this clarifies and helps. At the very least, it will stop one from having their post removed.
We look forward to hearing more from you and others, Joe.

Thanks, for participating.

The GT-40 being a true stereo amp is the most intriguing feature to me.

The Chorusing effect should be awesome like the old Fender Princeton Chorus but the two 6.5 inch speakers are a bit small but remember the old Ampeg SVT *Bass* cabs with like eight 10 inch speakers which kicked some bazookas. Looking forward to a test drive on Fenders whole new line.

Me too. Mustang isn't for everybody, but I and others appreciate the line for what it is. Mustang improvements would add even more fans, helps Fender, and in return helps us.

Many believe Fender isn't paying attention to it's customers. This lineup may, in large or small ways. prove that to be a weak theory. Obviously, the jury is waiting for the trial to begin.

Who knows Archtop Bill, that GT-40 might find another home too.

Well! Things to look for in the new model:

1 - compatibility with old presets for a quick start
2 - comparision of the same preset on the new and the old model
3 - a better foot control
4 - ability to use multiple times the same effect (2 delay in the fx chain)
5 - play audio track directly wothout any external device

I will shurely buy one and make an A/B comparision with my M1v1, cant wait for this!

Pics show they still have the horrible breakable plastic headphone socket.
Weird they didn't upgrade that.

Well, for me those things take a distant 2nd to tone. Thats #1 and i'd give up all of that and a lot of what the old ones DO have for tone. So to me the important things are processing power which has been greatly improved if fender is to be believed, and things like a plywood cab. And i'm glad to see they have indeed changed to plywood for the 100 and 200 watters. That and the better processing for what fender says gives "greater fidelity" and i'm already a happy camper.

As to the foot control, i think they are using the same one. A pic was posted somewhere and it looks exactly the same as the 4 button for the old mustangs except that the button labeled delay is now labeled "overdub". So a built in looper i suppose. They could have simply written that feature into the amps algorithm for that button and may be using the exact same switch, just a different lablel/function on the one button.

While I agree with markcc that the headphone jack should be beefed up by Fender, I also agree with oczad that tone takes precedence. Nice if the 100 and 200 cabs are plywood, although, added weight would be the downside. Perhaps. tone will have been affected for the better.

Interesting about the pedals and looper oczad.

Good on ya, joec63

Didn't notice any LED's on the smaller GT40. All look similar with a screen.

Arrggh .. doh.. that's what I meant, not LED, a screen.
Hmm, so the smaller ones can compete with M III.

I'd still like one where all the knobs are 360 degree rotary digitisers, with an illumniated spot that shows where you are - much better for fine tuning when you switch presets. Oh well, in 7 years time maybe.

Theres no "if", they ARE ply according to fender. And as to weight, ply is lighter then MDF. In fact, someone said, tho i have yet to look because i took his word on it, that the specs for the 100 watt combo show 12 Lbs lighter.
