Pic is of what is apparently the smallest version of the new mustang line. Someone copped it from snapchat. Seems the official announcement can't be far off.

With most likely much more DSP which is a no-brainer based on the trend in modeling technology and how good Fender did the Mustangs years ago, I am betting these amps are gonna kick some real booty and give Line 6 and Fractal a run for their money.

I am betting on Fender and I am excited to see what they come out with after such a successful run of the whole Mustang line which gave them capital to do this new line right.

Go Fender!!!

Line 6 is currently trying to figure out how to market a $1500 foot pedal. I hope Fender keeps on their current path of providing something for everyone.

Thats what i'm thinking. The V2 mustangs were just a slight cosmetic update and a few more models over the V1. But at this point modeling has come a long way since the V2 was released and i think this time they've got to seriously upgrade the processing and add some more features to keep up with the jones. Tonally the mustang is great as far as sounding and feeling as tube-like as anything but needs help at band volumes where there are just far too much high mids. Probably the fault of the output section. I think they have very likely dealt with that and if so, with more features and processing power this could well be a giant killer. I cant wait. I will likely buy the first one that i see at GC and return it if i find it to be more of a downgrade. Something I've seen too many times, but i doubt that'll happen with the mustang since it's thier best selling amp and the processing power upgrade is overdue.

This could be the reason why I held on to my Mustang IV V.1 for so long. Still prefer the carbon covering and the V.1 graphics, although colour choice would be even better for me. As for the lesser expensive (I assume) black speaker cloth, I guess Fender doesn't want to stand out on a dark stage (unless there's a good reason not to) and, is that just a painted nameplate? I get the look, but Mustang 's prior look didn't hurt sales, and this one might. Time will tell. Although, this plain Jane look might be a great marketing move to get more attention paid to Fender's traditional design in their tube amps or V.1 and V.2 Mustangs.

Thanks, for starting this thread oczad, and for the extra details cthulhu.

PentatonicSteel: If it's any consolation, like you I bought the V.1 just months before the V.2 came out
Oczad: I agree on your assessment of value added from V.1 or trade offs. I too am hoping that's not the case here. It could be a worthy successor? Fender has a great opportunity here. Now I have to decide - a new acoustic guitar, new mixer, or new amp? Well, maybe the smallest new Mustang will find a home alongside my
original Mustang and, perhaps, that new guitar. :D

I'm hoping that the new Mustang line will be similar modeling capabilities across the line, with the main differentiation being power / volume / speakers. I'm strictly an amateur and don't gig, at least not yet. 8) I've got a THR10C that is a great bedroom/practice amp - the blackface Deluxe Reverb model is particularly marvelous - but it only has five models (not counting the acoustic and bass amp settings), five preset save slots, and the effects can't all run at the same time. So I would immediately jump on the new small Mustang if it had the same modeling quality as the Yamaha but more of them and more presets.

The two teasers on Snapchat were a little over a week apart; maybe we'll get more news this weekend and the release in the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed...

Thanks buddy.
Hopefully it still takes a bit before they hit shelves. Well hopefully for those of us that just bought the V2.
I never buy brand new releases, just for this reason. Pick up the new one, ooops buy a lemon until they fix whatever mess was in the initial release, oh then...well then comes the V2 lol.
I wonder if fuse will change, or at least go back to getting regular support.

I am still so very happy with my III V2! \m/

It doesn't always turn out that way, unfortunately. Gauges replaced by idiot lights. Beta vs VHS. USB, Lightning, Firewire, Thunder, and now another USB. (Better working - maybe; but, at an inconvenient cost). Quality stereo speakers replaced by mini mono speakers designed to mimick a bigger sound. WiFi replaced by Bluetooth and Bluetooth replaced by WiFi. There are classic speakers and vintage guitars. although some modernization has improved and even surpassed both in many ways. The reverse is also true. Tube amps with great sound and technical limitations including reliability (Heat is their enemy, yet they are still here). Digital trying to sound like analog. Fully featured smartphones that sound like tin cans. I had a new 73 Charger because, at the time, I could no longer get a desirable '71. :( The newer model was a great big lemon despite NASCAR's historical MOPAR's ride of success in those days. We all use premature software and expect constant updates. A lot of times the better version comes out to introduce a lesser product knowing that buyers want to become part of the group sharing the experience. Sold! Then there is the chance you might miss out on the experience if it takes a hike.

I and others here have seen and used a lot of good and bad leading edge equipment that came and went through broadcasting stations and studios. Some of the highly praised stuff was crap, and one video effects accessory was laughed at by techies because it was cheaper than their choice over the operators'. We had the last laugh when that little piece of crap won an Emmy for the Olympics in Seoul Korea! I guess it comes down to the operator.
Long story short, it's all a crap shoot.

I have a good feeling about this tho. While often "new and improved" turns out to be "new and worse", i think this is a case where the product is one that they know will be a huge flop if there's not considerable improvement due to the way modeling technology is growing by leaps and bounds and competitors are releasing great new stuff every other day. I just don't think this is a product category where you CAN release "new and worse" without being a monumental failure. That and the fact the mustang line is thier biggest selling amp line. If i had to bet i think the odds are well to the good that the new stang will be better even if only marginally. I'm just hoping for a wider frequency range and more shaping options like a assignable EQ. Those alone will have me salivating like a dog in a meat market.
