I've settled on a workflow with the GT. I use the amp line-out into Reaper,
which hosts two instances of Cakewalk's old z3ta+ 1.5 multi-effects .dll,
one instance of IK Multimedia Amplitube 4, and one instance of Camel Audio's
CM Fuzz.

These provide a wide and quickly accesible array of professional sounds,
which I can select and modify easily. Using the Fender Studio Pre model
as a basis, I attempt building the basic sound the muse has whispered in my ear,
and then switch through the other other amp models, mainly using
the SuperSonic, Twin, Metal 2000, and British 80's. These all have Amplitube 4
versions which are well modeled.

Z3ta has hundreds of wonderful pro synth presets that also work great
with guitars, Amplitube is great for quick pedalboard setups,
and CMFuzz has a dozen varied presets placing one in a variety of
audio ballparks, plus a randomizer for it's filter, gain and distortion.
Reaper lets these plugins be routed/layered as the Muse requests.

Fender have made themselves irrelevant beyond the initial amp sale.
I shudder to think how many thousands of creative hours their
customers have wasted trying to do what the ads and the carton
promised was possible, counting myself lucky for not having had
a 'supported' device, with which to waste my time.
Cheers

Can we hear a recording? I'm curious what those synth presets sound like.

https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques ... z3ta-synth (scroll down for the effects screenshot)

z3ta effects has a
modulation unit with 6 voice chorus, mono/stereo/quad phasers
mono/stereo flangers, and a chorus-phaser

4 delay modes and 3 separate delay slots 7 sliders

5 distortions with filter destinations, 2 sliders,
and tone/decimate
choices, with 2 level sliders

3 compressor modes, 2 sliders

7 band eq, 4 modes with 30 curves, 7 sliders

basic graphical frequency analyzer

6 banks of presets, view and select from a panel, or step thru a bank
one by one.

4 reverb modes, 5 sliders

'and more'

Might need to buy an old Cakewalk account, or back-issue
of Beat magazine or Computer Music Magazine which had z3ta+
on their dvds. BlueCat have Freeamp, and a free plugin collection
which are also very useful and great sounds. Tantra from
Dimitry Sches is another modern affordable multi-effect,
Cheers

since getting zt3a+ is not exactly picking low hanging fruit,
here are some plugins that are, and very sweet

https://www.kvraudio.com/product/antikn ... nn-attinom

Antiknot was a KVR Developers Challenge entrant, a multi-effect
with randomizers, very easy and full of candy. A six minute
video is at the link, going thru the effects on a drum beat.
Fine for guitars etc

Another challenge entry is LaGrange, a granular stereo delay
that sounds gorgeous

https://www.kvraudio.com/kvr-developer- ... dc16-12747

and might as well toss in an excellent reverb,

https://github.com/michaelwillis/dragonfly-reverb

and the aforementioned BlueCat items,

https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/B ... ewarePack/

https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_FreeAmp/

Free-amp is 3 amps, actually, and really good ones.
Use them after the GT pre-amp model in your daw,
like running a stomp into an amp input, and use the other plugins
to make some chains. Switch between the GT's amps
when you get tone combos you like, for some nice surprises,
and be happy as reggae gulls at low tide

ahhh, why not?
