Somewhat of a newbie. Been lurking and posted a little. Forced into retirement in 2014, I found time and desire to pick up the electric guitar again after nearly 45 years. I played with a new 1966 Fender Stratocaster and Super Reverb amp back then which I sold a few years later for $500. That's all they were worth then. I think new, they were $750, so I was OK with that. Oh well.
I recently re-loaded with an American Standard Strat and Twin Reverb reissue (I'm old school I guess) and ready to learn. I want to thank the forum members in the new amplifier section for advice I picked up on an annoying idle hiss on a brand new amp (I was following someone with a similar issue). Tap the tubes and listen for funny noise. Nothing wrong there. Take out each small tube, one at a time, and see if any stop the noise. I pulled the 4th (V4) and no noise. Switched the tube with V1 (as I learned from forum) and voila!, noise gone. Thank you so much. I think it was Retroverbial and/or Stratele52 or both or others. Not sure, but thank you. Have a great day! :)

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to the electric guitar world.

My first Strat (back in 1968) was a '66 model paired with my first new Fender amp (a '67 silverface Super Reverb) so we have that in common. And like you, I wish I still had them both. Who knew, LOL!

Anyway, you'll have a ball here.

What's new today will be old tomorrow, and, ya never know, you may find it new again. :D
