Some time back, Fender lawyers accused me of illegally importing their necks from Indonesia. It never occurred to me that The Music Store in Tulsa had an Indonesian branch. It was my first guitar - a Squier Bullet on sale, which I immediately used to simulate my artwork on it in PhotoShop, and modified by adding pickups, an electronic breadboarding block and a 9V battery.

I wanted to build my own bodies using Bullet necks and hardware, and wrote to Fender, asking if I should leave the Fender headstock logo intact, mentioning the "Crafted in Indonesia" legend on the neck, and stating that the neck had some flaws. Fender lawyers came back at me like the enforcers in Pulp Fiction - a rather unpleasant and medieval experience.

In the time since, I've done a lot of simulations of my artwork on guitars (see theandroidsaxe.com), and decorated a couple with vinyl van wrap.

Last week, I walked into The Music Store and recognized the color palette and forms on a Fender guitar across the room. It was the 2015 orange David Lozeau "Tree of Life" guitar, which I had never seen before. Here is the one I decorated in about November 2006:

Oh, please, Mr. Fender Man, I don't wanna sue.

Nor do I intend to - I don't think you can copyright a color palette. But I have to wonder of what other legal sins Fender lawyers might accuse me in the future. They seem to be rather excitable.

If you have an issue with FMIC why don't you take it up directly with Fender-Corporate rather than crap up this forum with anecdotal hearsay and speculative innuendo?

Mental note: NEVER buy ANYTHING from theandroidsaxe.com or TulsaSoundGuitars. Thanks for the heads-up.
