I have or have had a wide range(get it?) of Fender guitars; 1976 Stratocaster, 1969 Telecaster Thinline, California Series Stratocaster, and many many others. I'm a jazz/fusion player so I've drifted away from Fender, until January when I tried a brand-spanking new "Modern Player" Starcaster. I loved the feel and bought it after little consideration. I got a fantastic sound.

Now for the bad part of the story - I took it to my technician to see if he could do anything about the terrible, terrible intonation (despite my best efforts) and was flabbergasted to hear that it was a production fault(the A-o-M placement) and had to be sent to Fender. My first ever brand-new guitar, and it's gone :(

Anyway, I haven't heard from him or Fender. Any ideas on how long it might take?
Any love for fusion and jazz here? :D

It's a Starcaster, in Norway, but just got a message from 4Sound; "Your guitar repair is completed", so I'll grab a kebab now and run on down.

Check it carefully before bringing back to your home

I am slightly disappointed. It plays EVEN better but there is definite fret buzz on the first fret. Intonation is otherwise decent, I believe they may have swapped the neck. I think I might raise the neck PU a little. What are people's thoughts on WRHB pickups? (The new ones)

You write ; "......if he could do anything about the terrible, terrible intonation (despite my best efforts) ."

Terrible intonation or a decent intonation ?

Fret buzz ; a simple tune-up or basic fix

I believe they may have swapped the neck.

Are you serious ?

See a qualified luthier or I don't understand what you write on your firs post

I'll try to clarify:

It always felt very good to play, but the intonation was off. It was sent to Fender under warranty, and I believe they swapped the neck(judging by some minor details). Now, the intonation is a lot better, but there is slight fret buzz on the first fret. No need to get so hostile.

Welcome to the forum Marwin! I hope the new setup works out for you. This should have been caught by the dealer before you took it home the first time.

I decided that I'll go back to my tech and see if he agrees that this "repair" is sub-par on Fender's part.

Just to clarify who is fixing it, it isn't actually Fender. Warranty service on Fender products in foreign markets is the responsibility of the distributor who administers warranty service through their own repair system, not through Fender's service system which is only used by customers in North America.
