Hello everybody. New to the forum but not new to Fender. In the past have owned a black 1991 MIM strat, a vintage white 1993 '62 reissue (that I replaced with EMG SAs...don't hate!), and an unknown year natural japanese thinline tele. Have played for almost 20 years but got out of it for 8. Picked the hobby back up last year and have been jonesing for a replacement to my 62 reissue. After trying a couple of non-Fenders, an ESP Vintage Plus and a G&L S-500, I just couldn't find what I was looking for as far as vibe and neck profile.

Well last month I finally dove all in for a 2011 FSR Tropical Turquoise '62 AVRI. I LOVE it. In fact I love it so much, I decided I want to get a 57 to pair it with. Drove down to Phoenix this morning to pick up a 2007 50th Anniversary Edition '57 AVRI in the Mary Kaye color scheme. I haven't had my tech set it up yet, but it seems to play real good. Was a little disappointed the soft V wasn't more pronounced but still plays great.

Anyway, wanted to say this forum was of great help researching both these guitars so thanks to all who have contributed. I think I am done buying guitars now as I have reached my limit of 8. In case anyone is curious the rest of my collection includes the following non-Fenders:

- 1999 Gibson Les Paul Classic - Heritage Cherry Sunburst
- 2012 ESP KH-DC - See Thru Black Cherry
- 2011 ESP KH-2 SE - Greenburst (one of 100 worldwide)
- 2013 ESP KH-2 Vintage - "reliced" Black
- 2009 ESP KH-2 Ouija - White (#7 of 50 worldwide)
- 2015 Tom Anderson Pro Am - Black & White Bowling Ball (on order, anticipating April delivery)

If you believe that then I've got some primo waterfront real estate on Lake Mead that I'll gladly sell you.

You are never "done" when it comes to buying guitars.

Welcome to the forum!

Actually, maybe I worded that wrong lol. I was at 8 and yet I bought the MK. But I am committed to staying at 8 , not 9, so am trying to sell a Godin Multiac Steel Duet semi-acoustic I never play to make room. That being said, there are probably a couple guitars left out there daring to prove me wrong...but overall, I think I have established a well rounded greatest hits collection of all the guitars I loved my first go around with the features I wanted. It leaves me wanting for none for the moment! I think my next purchase is going to be an FSR '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue amp. I'm sure I could use a second amp.

Do you live in Las Vegas or other parts now?

"Other parts".

Very close to the realm once ruled by Wyatt Earp.

But geographically very similar to what George Knapp refers to as the "land of sun, fun, sin, sex, and secrets".

No problem. That pic is somewhat accurate based on natural lighting. In artificial, it's a tad darker and looks better/more vintage in my opinion. Less like a sonic blue. I get the turquoise but don't really see the tropical aspect of it.
