What can I say? I guess I missed talking to some of you that aren't over at the Conservatory forum. :P Deleted the old CPL account right after the last time I'd ever posted here, so I'll have to start over again. I see this place has changed a lot, but I do recognize some names. I do like the new look, by the way.

Hope you all have a good New Year and keep playing!

Cheers,
Paul LF

Well you mentioned me in a post about a Fender P Bass Lyte, I noticed after reading the forum and seeing what's what after seeing the new web site, so I decided to join back up and comment there.

So how's things been going?

Yeah, I've noticed that happens in a lot of forums these days.

Thanks. I did have something I've wanted to mention to you about my P Bass Lyte that I posted here when I decided to come back here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=94698&p=1101070#p1101070 I was wondering if you have any experience with this happening to other models besides mine?

Shorts yes, but not a finish chunking off like that. I'd say it wasn't primered properly, but just a guess. Also someone could have put something on it they should not have or it could have been in some temperature extremes. Hard to say exactly but it is not common on a Lyte.

Well, it started after I played in NYC and it was bitterly cold during that time even though I had it stored in a case. I also live near the beach in Newport, RI in a very old house which has extreme temperature shifts from hot and humid during the summer and dry and cold in the winter. That could have also been a contributing factor.

Agree to an extent. However, it should have checked up before it just chunked off. I'm thinking inadequate priming. The poly paint they used at Fujigen then was pretty resilient stuff. It gets hot and it gets cold in Japan too. Never saw exactly what I'm seeing on yours on any solid color Fender Japan body. Ever. Wondering if it possibly was stripped and refinished?

The bass was bought new in a music store, so who knows what happened at the factory when it was made. I remember talking to some local dude that ran a music store around here saying something about there was or might have been a problem with that production run's finish. Not sure exactly, though. By it's serial number, it was made in 1994.
