Greetings. New guy here from central Virginia.

I used to play guitar back in the 70's and 80's but family and work got in the way and playing fell by the wayside. Now that I'm semi-retired (I work for my younger son for free) I decided to get back into guitar playing.

My older son made off with my Les Paul last year so I was guitar-less. My wife and I were out shopping just before Christmas and I saw a maple neck MIM Strat and fell in love with it. With just a bit of whining on my part  , she agreed that I should take it home.

I remember most chords but somehow my fingers are less nimble than before. My solo ability, to put it nicely, stinks.

Oh well, it's back to practicing regularly and getting my fingertips toughened up again.

I may even take some real lessons before I get too far into it to correct what I was doing wrong before.

So, long-winded intro for me. I look forward to learning a lot and contributing if/when I have something worthwhile.

Welcome Cory...I am retired, and similar to you, had played in groups during the early 60's through early 80's. And, for the same reasons, family and work came first. So, it wasn't until a few years ago, after retirement, and buying a new strat after many years (having sold my first strat years earlier - big regret), that I had rekindled my enjoyment playing guitar. So, good luck with getting those fingers to work again. My fingers no longer have the flexiability they once did.

Hi Cory, Welcome to the forum and hope you love that Fender. The trouble with an instructor isn't finding one, but finding the RIGHT one. Good luck!
