Just registered after aquiring a lovely looking Telecaster FMT in Black Cherry Burst. Plays nice too. Though taking a bit of adjustment as I mainly play my Taylor acoustic.
I did have an old 1981 Fender bullet but traded it to get the Taylor. Now getting back into the electric and starting to fill up my pedal board (Pedaltrain 2).

Does anyone know if the Telecaster will happily take a set of 11 strings? - it came with 9s.

Hoping to get some tips on the site. Looks a good place to start.

Hey Nigels,

Welcome to the Forum. I hope all is well in the U.K.
As far as 11's on the Tele - No Problem.
On my Strats I have one with 11's and the other with 13's.
They are both tuned to standard pitch(440).
The 13's are RotoSound Purples. A company out of the U.K. I love having a wound 3rd string.
The 11's are Ernie Ball Cobalt strings from the U.S. The 3rd string on that is not wound.
I keep the action a bit higher than normal and I have the tremolo decked to the body and use all 5 springs.
I plan on getting a Telecaster but for now the Strats are doing their job just fine.
I hope this helps. Take care.

Hey Nigels,

Sorry I forgot to mention. If you go up to the11's take your guitar to a luthier or a guitar tech that you trust. You'll need to get the nut adjusted to accept the bigger strings and the truss Rod will need an adjustment as well. I take my guitars in to a local luthier who does excellent work. He does a better job than I could ever do. You'll need the intonation adjusted as well. A professional set up goes a long way.

Take Care,
