hello. I am a long time fan of Fender. I own an '80 Lead II (used) since 1981, an '83 Strat (new) since 1984 and '77 Music Man Sting Ray bass (used) since 1987.

I am here in SW FL and formerly from CT/NYC.

I am purchasing a new American Standard P-Bass online from a large Fender Authorized dealer. This is my first online guitar purchase. The bass is being shipped to me in the sealed Fender carton. My question to the Fender folks, is the bass set up and ready to play right out of the box? In my past in-store purchase experiences, the guitars are checked and set up by the stores technician.

I look forward to any info and or experiences. thanks!

Welcome to the forum Flatironmike. You no doubt have read the answers posted in both the LOUNGE and PRECISION BASS sections where you posted this exact same question. In general you got correct answers already. I answered in the Precision Forum yesterday. Since this question has been answered elsewhere there is no need to answer it again here, but did want to welcome you. We know you are excited! I sure would be.

Do not neglect to post photos of your new Fender P-Bass Mike by starting a new thread in the Precision section of the forum! And read the links I posted in your question thread in the Precision section on how to setup a bass yourself. The Gary Willis setup link I posted there is very good for a total beginner at doing electric bass setups.
