Hi folks.

I always used to be strictly an acoustic player but a bit like Dylan decided about six years ago I really should have an electric of some description. Many moons ago when in university I had bought a s/h Antoria Les Paul copy and actually loved its very low action and super maxi jumbo frets so went looking for something similar. Being left handed my options were slightly limited in finding stock to demo. In the end I made the wrong decision, as it turned out, to go by reviews and bought a Cort G250 mail order which was a fairly good strat type guitar with a coil tapped HSS layout and paired it up with a small Marshall MG15 DFX practice amp. While it was "OK" I immediately felt I had made the wrong decision in buying a guitar with a floating Wilkinson bridge. The upshot was that the Cort lay pretty much unused and unloved.

Fast forward to this week and I decided to act on my gut feeling that had been brewing for over a year that the guitar I needed was a Telecaster. Nothing this simple and straightforward could have been in production for so long unless it was the real deal. I also decided against going for a lookalike although the Tokai did tempt me. My previous experience did however temper my decision in that I bought the Squier rather than the Fender in case living with it changed my mind.

What can I say? For the minimal price of £145 (UK) which is pretty much throwaway chump change if it turns out to be a mistake I have got a guitar I already love. Squier Telecaster Affinity Butterscotch Blonde L/H I love you!

To top it off I traded in the Marshall amp for a Fender Mustang and couldn't be happier. I haven't picked up an acoustic since Tina Telecaster walked through the door.

Does that mean you are now a Fender fan?! Good on you man! If you are that happy with a squire, just imagine the joy when you later get a USA one! I've managed to convert a few 'metal-head" friends who normally play Warlocks, PRS's etc, into stratocaster fans over the years. Fenders might not have all those evil looking shapes and stuff but as far as playability goes you can't beat them I reckon. Ritchie Blackmore (from Deep Purple) played a Strat...he got some amazingly heavy sounds out of his!
Tele's are great for nearly all styles too. Glad you like yours man! I'm getting a 2005 american standard tele in a few days time...can't wait. I've played a few in the past but never owned one sO i'm really looking forward to it. I will upload a photo -if I can work out how to do it!
Take care man!
:-)
