I ended up here because I went Googling for info on a gig bag to fit my Villager 12-string acoustic/electric, and I found a thread with some info. 8)

I've been playing since 1975 or so, but work and all that other stuff got in the way, so I'm really out of practice. Now I'm "kinda retired," and getting back into guitar. The Villager is my first Fender guitar, and I'm really pleased with it so far.

The Midcoast of Maine has been my home for 20+ years, and I can't imagine moving anyplace else.

In October, the local Adult & Community Education office will be holding a course called "Acoustic Jam Sessions," which I suggested. I was hoping a local guitar instructor (or somebody who knows more about music theory than I do) would teach it, but he was unavailable. You might think that after my time in the Air Force, I'd know not to volunteer for anything, but I'll be running the course. I won't really be "instructing" anything, but rather "organizing and facilitating" it.
The way I see it, I'll be like the guy who used to run the weekly hoot nights at a restaurant/lounge where I hung out in MA all those years ago. We affectionately called him the "hootmeister," and it was a lot of fun.
I hope to meet up with some other folks around my age, make some music, and have some laughs. If I actually teach anybody anything, that'll be cool, and I'm sure I'll learn some new things.

Welcome aboard...this reminds me of my travels around the Bucksport Bridge and Perry's Nut House in Belfast.

Thanks for the welcoming messages. I don't know if I've ever been to Bucksport; it's 70+ miles from here, kind of on a different peninsula than where I live. (Looks closer by water than by road, but I'm not going there by boat, either.) Belfast is a little closer, but I haven't been up that way in ages.

I hadn't been by the forum for awhile because I had some other stuff vying for attention.

I talked to the director at the Adult Ed office today, and she said no one has signed up for the "course" I had suggested. The start date is a little over a month away, so if there isn't any interest now that the fall session brochures have been mailed out, it's probably not going to happen.
At least they said they wouldn't set a minimum number of students, so if only a couple of people registered, I'd be happy with that. As long as it's not just me and a whole troupe of banjo players . . .

Thanks.
Nice tagline. Do you have one of these t-shirts, too? <http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-T-shirt-Never-Have-Guitars/dp/B001I49T2M> I gotta find mine. If the Acoustic Jam Sessions thing does happen, I might wear the shirt to that.

I'll be gigging at the Cumberland Fair tomorrow if you're in the area.

Sounds good, but I have some work-related stuff that's been hanging around since mid-January, and Sat. is my opportunity to get that over and done with, at least for awhile.

Given that I haven't set foot in Cumberland County in months, or been to a fair since La Wife and I went to Windsor or someplace several years ago, I'd really rather go catch some music.

But I gotta go make sure something is still where I left it on that cold late afternoon (long story), and take care of some other things that I let go for too long. :(

Happy gigging. 8)
