Hi all,

I've joined yesterday your online community, but I've joined the community last april, when I got a Fender Standard FSR from Thomann (first European guitar store). It was for my birthday and I'm really happy with it.

I was quite surprised how good the set-up was right out of the box, it plays great, feels great, sounds great. It comes with TexMex pups, I find them very good for cleans and crunch sounds. I've set up the pup plots to follow the radius curve and it sounds better than the original set up, imho ( tip from Alan-034...or some pseudo close to this one).

This FSR has 22 frets, which is quite rare for MiM, and also a big '70s head. I really like these 2 features in a strat. Gigbax deluxe and TexMex pups. GLossy neck, which I did not like, so I gave it a satin finish.

I don't know if I'm doing things wrong when I replace my strings, but I don't find it stays well in tune if I use the tremolo. If I deck the trem, it stays quite good in tune, though not as good as my LP with Grover locking tuners.
So I'm gonna replace the tuners in a couple of months for locking ones, probably Fender. I'll see if it stays better in tune if I use the trem, if not maybe I'll replace the tremolo too. It is a good guitar, that I see in the long term with some nice hardware evolutions.
The tremolo is "Vintage Synchronised 6 points".

All in all, I'm very impressed and happy with my first Fender Stratocaster.

Welcome to the forum

To stay in tune ;

Fender guitar with tremolo are not easy to set up . New tunning machines and / or tremolo may not be a issue . I must write ; it is not a issue .
Did you replace your strings by same gauge ?
If not , guitar need a tune up .

Learn to use a Stratocaster before to replace anything .

Hello Stratele and thanks for your welcome message.
I'm currently trying 10s on my strat, but it came with 9s. I've bought Dan Erlewine's repair and set up book, which is great.

I prefer locking tuners, because I find it eases the change of strings and it eases also the tuning stability. Regarding the tremolo, I did not do a thing, except putting a piece of wood to deck it, since I don't currently use the whammy bar and it is easier to tune the guitar without it.
But, I'd like in a near future to experiment with this unique feature of the strat.
Thx

If you " cancel " tremolo you don't have tuning problem .....

A nut need to be fine tune ; file the strings slots may help too . Original nut may not be finish properly.

Tuning machines or regular one . I have few Strat , both American made . Regular tuning machine, you need to know how to put string on . If too munch turn , yes you may have tuning problem .
Myself I don't have any problem with both . Locking tuner is only faster to put string on IMO . I won't replace regular tuning machine for locking one

Be carefull , if your guitar is Made in Mexico AND is Fender Special Run, check the size of the new tuning machine before buying them . They may not fit .

If you want more help about a Stratocaster , post in Stratocaster section , experts are there , not in General Discussion / Introduction
