Hi all,
I just stumbled upon this place while trying to find info on my newest guitar. It's a made in Mexico Stratocaster. Although I have played quite a few different Fenders, both acoustic and electric, I have never owned one till now. I am liking it!
I need new strings, heavier than the 9's that are on it as I am not really a lead player anyway and want to get some lower tones. I have played for years and have played lots of different styles but currently playing mostly Modern Contemporary Christian music in our church praise band.

The next set up from nine's is the 10-46 set. Give those a try, Robert.

Welcome to the forum!

Thank You Arjay,
I thought that should do it. I emailed Fender to get the guitar specs as I really know nothing about this guitar. I have been reading in the forums and am discovering some things that I know nothing about, like "springs" under the bridge. It looks like it has a rosewood fingerboard and had a tremolo bar, but that isn't with it. I have discovered that all tremolo bars are not the same so I won't replace it till I know just what I need to order. It still has the protective plastic on the pick guard and back cover but until I get it set up the way I want, I will leave it on.

Once you determine the exact Strat model, securing a replacement tremolo arm shouldn't be too difficult. If in doubt, e-mail the serial number located on the rear of the headstock to Fender and they should be able to pull up a build sheet with a complete set of specs regarding pickups, electronics, hardware, even the finish color.

I heard back from Fender today and my guitar is a Standard, made in April of 2000. It has a "Vintage Style Synchronized Tremolo" according to the specs they sent. I have ordered the strings, the 10-46 as suggested. It was cheaper getting them online than driving to the nearest music store.
I figured out the picture thing so I posted 2 in the Stratocaster forum.

And what a fine looking example of a Strat it is, Robert.

Procuring a MIM Standard trem arm shouldn't pose any difficulty.
