Howdy from Texas, everybody! These are my very first comments on the Fender forum and I'm proud to be among my fellow Fender friends!

I just turned 66 on May 26th (2014) and did something that I've been wanting to do for over 40 years. When I was a senior in high school in Fort Worth, I got a brand new 1965 Fender Mustang guitar and Fender Princeton Reverb Amp. That Mustang cost $189.50 brand new back then - can you believe it??!! But I was young-and-dumb and traded them for a bass guitar at a pawn shop. Actually, that went beyond "young-and-dumb" - it was more like a moment of sheer insanity that would cause me to let go of that guitar and amp like that.

Anyway, a few days ago I got $200 for my birthday and it was 1 penny more than I needed to buy the Squier Affinity Stratocaster Pack. So I hurried down to Guitar Center and bought it. It was the last one they had and was the brown sunburst color that I wanted. I felt like a kid who had just unwrapped a real Fender Stratocaster from under the Christmas tree when I got that thing home and took it out of the box.

I know a lot of people would laugh at me for getting so excited over such a lower-price, lower-quality instrument. But to me, it is beautiful, and I am VERY proud to own it! For better or for worse, it was made in Indonesia and it must have been made very recently because the serial no has "14" at the beginning of it, indicating it was made this year.

I'm sorry for being a bit long in my introduction. I feel privileged being here on the forum with the rest of you.

Congratulations. Making music is a kick. I started late with guitar, but it has been fun and has kept me busy and out of trouble. Mostly. Have fun. (Thanks for using big print.) :D

Guitar Center priced it at exactly $188.23 before TX sales tax?
