Hi Everyone, I play through a Fender Blues Jr and really love it, but recently it has started to make a scratchy noise with the volume off and all other dials off and no guitar plugged in.

I am hoping someone may have some troubleshooting advice that doesn't included taking my amp back to the store. I don't mind learning a thing or two.

I'm saving up for a Strat or Jag or both, which I'm sure will sound amazing through my Blues Jr once it's fixed.

Cheers

Hello!

Yes, potentiometers (volume and tone knobs) do go scratchy after a while. Counterintuitively this often happens with knobs left in one position for a long time, knobs that get a regular workout don't seem to do it as much.

You need to squirt some Electrolube or similar electrical contact cleaner inside the pot. I'll hand the repair over to the internet's finest repair guy. This video shows him fixing a headstock break then cleaning the volume knob. You will laugh.
