...and I used to loathe them. I hated how the neck felt, the 'weak' pickups, they looked weak, were not the sound I wanted, etc.

But that was something like 20 years ago and I'm not a punk kid/psychotic metalhead anymore  Not that all metalheads are psychotic, it's still my favorite genre, but I digress...

I haven't played seriously in about a decade. In fact, all my guitars are on loan to friends atm. But lately I've been wanting to get back into guitaring, and for some reason a guitar with single coils was calling to me. I immediately thought of the strat and started looking into them more and more.

I usually don't care for Guitar Center, and am very leery against buying such an intimate instrument as the guitar online, but as luck would have it a nearby GC had a '95 Strat Plus they claimed was Olympic White (turns out it's Vintage White, or a faded Arctic). So I went in and played it.

And I was terrible, as expected. But I could hear the potential, feel it in my hands, and so I took it home with me :)

I played it all weekend and my left hand is a bit achy, but I do not regret my purchase. In fact, I talked them down $100 for a ding in the paint that you can't even see while playing, and used that for a Sonic Port for late night practicing.

I never thought I'd like a Fender, but I'm glad to have this Strat among the rest of my guitars. The playability is quite nice (neck is a little thicker than I like usually... short little fingers) and it just sounds exactly like what I was looking for when I went hunting.

Welcome DreamError. It has been said that you will always remember your first.

Congrats on a nice score. It looks like Olympic White to me.

Thanks for the welcomes. It's definitely a different guitar to what I used to play, but that isn't a and thing, either. Just different.

See, GC called it Olympic White, too, but according to http://xhefriguitars.com they didn't make the Plus in Olympic, there was Arctic, Vintage, Aged Vintage and I forget the 4th. I emailed Fender the serial to see if they can shed some light on it. I'm assuming Vintage, since the pick guard does't look too faded I doubt it is a faded Arctic.

I can see it looking a lot like Olympic, though.

But hopefully Fender will let me know for sure, supposedly their records are accurate from 94+ iirc.

Hello from North Carolina. Congrats on your Strat! You will love that guitar! Speaking of Guitar Center, I bought my American Standard Strat in the parking lot of Guitar Center (used on Craigslist)... :D
