My admiration of guitars and guitar players goes back to about 1970 and Buck Owens iconic red, white and blue acoustic Harmony and his sparkle telecaster. Now 50 years later, at age 55, I decided to learn to play and one week ago I purchased my first guitar, a brown sunburst Squier Stratocaster.

I'm really excited to learn, right now I'm using the Fender Play app and trying to learn my chords and scales. I've been practicing daily anywhere from 30 minutes to slightly over two hours. I find when I pick up the strat I don't want to put it down.

I look forward to learning and I looked through the education area and found that other beginners have the same practice concerns, like muted strings, so it makes me like I'm not alone.
