Hi there, thanks for reading...here goes...
I'm a beginner guitar player, a retired Canadian veteran with an operational stress injury. Mostly my problem with trying to learn guitar has been my memory. I haven't been able to grasp big chunks of information at a time, for a long time and have been lurking around today wondering if fender play would work for me. Decided I'm going to give it my full best and teach myself with your help.

Wish me luck
Cheers.

Hi Mercyme, welcome to the forum. I've heard some good things about Fender Play so maybe it will suit you.

Welcome Mercyme. From one former serviceman (and there are many here) to another I applaud and thank you.

I can’t speak for Fender Play, but I will say that the guitar is a great way to find a comfort zone. We all struggle a little, memory included, especially in the beginning, learning guitar.

I played many years ago and have forgotten a lot without the books I once had. Lyrics included.

So don’t let it stop your progression. any and all that you learn at your own pace can be rewarding. I would suggest to include some three and four chord songs just to kick back with. That’ll give you a break and keep you interested on those odd occasions of frustration that comes with lessons and diligent practice. You’ll also find those “Eureka!” moments when something hard to understand will suddenly reveal itself to you.

So best of luck with it all and enjoy your guitar and the Forum, Mercyme.

+1

You might trying finding similarly inclined friends (perhaps a veteran's group?) and playing together regularly. Nothing improves proficiency than "training" with buddies.

Hope it works and best of luck.

Arjay
