Hi guys,
I´ve had a weak spot for Fender for many years, but the bands I played in was a better suit for humbuckers (Pearl Jam/Soundgarden/Tool/original) so I have been a Les Paul-guy since I switched my japanese Squier strat (`93/`94) for a Les Paul Studio in `97.
Now I play mostly in Garageband on my Mac and have gotten softer in music preference so I thought it was time to buy that American Strat SSS that I´ve thought about for all these years.

I broke my ankle this winter and watched many hours of YouTube on the coach and stumbled across FrogLeapStudios and That Pedal Show which opened a rabbit hole of gear videos. That really retriggered my interest and enthusiasm for the guitar. I bought 15 pedals in three months off a reverb.com-ish page in Norway and started to record a lot of new music. I was just about to get an Elite sunburst (after trying the Pro and Elite in a local shop in Bergen), but they are all out of stock everywhere for this colour. I`m guessing a new model (Ultra) is on it´s way to the market during the next couple of weeks. Anyway, I´ll probably pick one up pretty soon as I`ve waited too long already to get a Strat.

Allright; see you around.

Hi JohnnyFingers, welcome to the forum.

If I'd spent less time watching YouTube videos and looking on eBay and more time playing my guitar I'd be a really good player by now. Well that's the way it goes I guess. Enjoy the forums.

Welcome JohnnyFingers. LPs are fine guitars to be sure and Strats, well, once you’re bitten it’s like chocolate. Some like the dark kind, some like the light, and some like both. Once you taste the Strat you’ll be addicted.

I hope you managed to find the one you like best. :D

Probably, but I’m self taught so YouTube (Rick Beato, Dan’s vlog etc) has taught me scales and tricks. I’m a much better player from this last year than I was 10 years ago.

Thanks!
I ordered the an Ultra the day it was launched in Ultraburst with rosewood neck. Picked it up a week ago and I love it. I think the S1 was a little better on Elite, but the neck and contour makes the Ultra quite fast and very comfortable. It’s dead quiet so the pickups work.

Nice choice, Johnny. I have noiseless N3 pups in my Amn Dlx (3TSB / maple neck) and, while old school pups rock, the noiseless per se have a vibe of their own and for my purpose and with all the tools available they are great for recording IMHO. Uncontrolled feedback and hum are so yesterday and many fixes will be a bit of a trade off anyhow, but current solutions are very good and welcomed today. Both traditional and modern schools of thought have advantages and disadvantages, and that is true with the body and neck design too. Besides, the audience for the most part can’t tell the difference and doesn’t care to. Your pickup selection looks to cover the bases nicely.

The S1 switch doesn’t get a standing ovation from me, but I applaud much of what it does add to the mix. I do use it occasionally. More options are always a nice feature and it’s like having 2 Strats with a 5 way switch. Gotta love that. More mojo.

Great that you found a Strat that fits you well, Have great times with your new friend. :D
