I am a new member of the Forum. I've been playing Guitar off and on since1963. I've always played acoustic guitar, but I just bought an electric guitar. I want to read the forums and learn.

Hello, bgwinn05660. Lots of info and help here to get you up to speed with electric (and acoustic) guitars, etc. Have fun.

Good morning to Rock Icon! I bought a Fender Cyber Twin amp and I'm trying to figure out the mystical world of digital effects. I'm thinking about dumping the effects and buying pedals for specific effects. Do you have any experience with this?

Welcome aboard! You guys must be tapping the maple syrup up there about now.

I have a Cyber Deluxe (v2) that I use now and then. Once you have your presets down
and saved, they work pretty good.

Sorry, I missed your question until now bgwinn05660. It looks like Miami Mike said it best. By now you’re sure to have a pretty good Cyber Twin experience.

On one hand with the Cyber Twin you can learn something about effects that you prefer to invest in. Of course, you won’t get a full plate, but you might get a good fill of what the Cyber Twin has to offer. It may be all you want or need. On the other hand using effects pedals is like a smorgasbord where you have a lot of choice, and pedals give you options of how you can hook up the effects such as in front or after the amp. Same pedal with different results for example. Different combos and different manufacturers and how they perceive and/or present the effect will be one of the advantages of separate pedals. It can keep you busy, however, and you might consider how much attention to the pedals you want to do as opposed to playing. Do you want set it and leave it or is the gearhead your thing?

One word of caution though, too much is too much, and along with the good, you’re sure to collect some bad or at least some effects that will wear off their charm or move aside for the latest greatest.

There is no one way, so check out the Forums here, and make it your own. The Cyber Twin is a pretty good stand alone, but some people like more than one flavour or brand of ice cream. Your choice.

This is a Forum where you may find more answers:

Tip: You can also type in Cyber Twin in the search box to see what will show.

The following Forum is just beginning, so presently posts are limited but will increase.

Checkout YouTube. Many of the behind the scenes videos are particularly helpful and educational as to pedals, and their setup and how they are used, as are other demos.

It may be helpful to look up the history of what pedals have earned a popular following. It’s a good place to start for comparison. IMHO. The other area to consider is your favourite artist(s) and/or music. That’ll head you in the right direction. You could set a goal for your tone with and without effects or you can get in line for the whole smorgasbord.

Take notice of the gang here. They are a good resource.

Again, sorry for the late answer. Hope this will add to your experience (pass it on).
