I began playing guitar when I was 15. My mom bought me a 50 dollar Yamaha for a classical guitar class. I was devoted and played hours daily. I met a guy who played so great it was a thrill to watch him. He told me about his dream guitar - a Stratocaster from the early 60s - I did not even know what this meant but I never forgot. Now I have three Strats and a Tele - one is a 56 Closet classic - it is lovely - glad I met him - wish I still had that cheap Yamaha too - nostalgia now that I am in my 60s

Great story mrk1839. So many of us have been impressed by another and his/her guitar or wants. I was lucky to have a high school buddy who taught me some licks at the age of 16 on his original ‘62 Strat. It wasn’t until later that I picked up an electric for myself, thanks to a gift from my better half. She knew I could play acoustic, but she was surprised when I played 60s songs on the Strat that I had learned almost 50 years earlier. Once bitten with a Strat or other fave you keep scratchin’ until healed. Of course G.A.S. will bite again and again.
Nice to have you here.

Hi,
I am retired and have acquired more then a dozen guitars of several makes, I can tell you I started out with Fender and to this day, Fender is still the best and most at home in my ageing hands.
