Hey all....

I bought my first Fender in '78, bought and sold many guitars since then, including a Korean Squier around '92, ended up trying to "upgrade" it and ultimately ended up reassembling it with a different paint job and a second Partscaster... sold one and gave the other to my buddy's son.

So for the last few years, my wife has been buying me Fender clothing, hats, and other goodies for holidays, even though the only Fender products I own were a Blues Jr, Stage Lead 212, and one of the mini amps.

For my birthday this year, she bought me a little Marshall 15w amp (I really need to stop putting random stuff on my Amazon wish list), so I decided it was time to buy a new Fender to go with it.

Picked up an American Special in Olympic White. Plays very nice!

I found the forum while looking for upgrade parts.

Hi Rich, welcome to the forum. Congratulations on the new guitar. We have a rule here, show us pics of your new guitar or we don't believe you. :D

Oops! ;)

Color balance isn't great... It washed out pretty badly and rebalancing took some of the yellow out of the Olympic White

Planning to R&R the plastics with black like a late 70s model.

I really am surprised that even though it's MIA, it has a plain neck plate.

Welcome from another SoCal member. One of my guitars is an AmSpcl, in two tone Sunburst. Nice guitar. I also have another model in Olympic white. Nice color.

Hi Rich! Olympic White is a popular choice for a reason. As yours shows us it just looks so dang sweet. Thanks, for the pic. Have great times here.

Thanks.

It really does play sweet.
I've been noodling on an Epiphone SG for the last couple of years, haven't touched either of my G&Ls in probably 15 years when I stopped playing with others.
On this one, every now and then I'll hit a note or a bend and something just says "wow, that was really sweet!"

I've just decided that I'm getting closer to retirement, and I'm "done" with cheap guitars, it's time to have some quality instruments. Figured it was time to buy a real MIA Strat to go with the G&Ls, and eventually I'll probably pick up a Les Paul.

I probably won't get rid of my Sheraton-II, and I have too many memories (and loss of memory :D ) wrapped up in my old early 80s Kramer "V". I probably will end up selling the SG and PR-5E Epiphones (since my newer Taylor does everything the PR-5E does).
