Hi Fender Forum,
I will be looking for help/infomation with the restoration of this amp thatr my son has inherited. Was my father-in-laws, he played blues guitar with a band in the 1960's.
It's not been used for ages, fires up but the sound is really bad so needs some work.
I will admit that I know nothing about guitars/amps but I do have a good friend that is good with electronics he even said he could repair the speaker if it needs.
It seems that this amp is better known as a guitar amp rather than bass?
So will it be better to post on the vintage amp section or the bass amp section?
Here it is...

hope this works.
Cheers, Steve...

Welcome to the Forum nortonboy. Interesting first post. Some one stripped the head and cabinet to bare wood and stained them. The head will need some work though. Vintage amp section as the cabinet looks like a single showman cabinet. Have fun here.

Hi nortonboy;

I agree with SBLS that the Vintage amp section will be of help.

Thanks, for the photo. Your amp looks to be worthy of restoration. We look forward to seeing photos of the end product, and welcome to the Forum.

My guess is your father-in-law’s gear was tweed covering in the beginning, and whether or not you decide to recover it the same or different there are many vinyl options (even funky ones) available from third parties found on the Net.

This will give you some history of the original Bassman amps/cabs:

Enjoy the makeover.

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum. That looks like an interesting project you've got on your hands there. Good luck with the restoration.
