Hi everyone,

Trying desperately to play guitar, I'm doing my best to learn, improve and get read of my painful hands and wrists !
As shown in the title, I'm French, and I'm left handed !
Being lefty, at least to play guitar, is not that easy for me since I'm on a long term recovery on both hands and wrists. This is due to couple of road accidents, but i don't have to complain about ! One day or another it will be fine.

To talk about guitars, Fender is not the first guitar brand I bought.
Back in the mid 90's, my very first guitar was a Yamaha and I still have it, it's a RGX serie.
I played a bit but never really progress and then...accidents so I stopped.

September 2016, I found motivation and hope, physiotherapist and osteopath helping a lot, I begun to re-learn and re-practice.
And I clearly admit I have been diagnosed with GAS.

Here is the list of Fender I do possess (normally sorted by order of acquisition :

Left Handed :
- Jaguar Kurt Cobain 3 Sunburst (MIM - new) 2016
- Telecaster Candy Apple Red (MIM - new) 2016
- Mustang Black (MIJ - used) 90's
- Jazzmaster Olympic Vintage White (MIK - new) 2016
- Stratocaster Aerodyne FSR Black (MIJ - used) 90's
- Jaguar Olympic White (MIJ - used) 90's
- Mustang Sonic Blue (MIJ - new) 2012
- Jagstang Sonic Blue (MIJ - used) 1997
- Jagstang Sonic Blue (98') (MIJ - used) 1998
- Telecaster Lake Placid Blue (used)

Right Handed but flipped to lefty :
- Stratocaster Aerodyne FSR Candy Apple Red (MIJ - new)
- Toronado Olive Green with black stripes
- MusicMaster Red 57'/58' (rebuilt only with original parts and original finish)
- DuoSonic White Blond 62'/63' (rebuilt only with original parts but not an original finish)
- Mustang Red 64'/65' body with 69' Competition Red neck (rebuilt only with original parts and original finish)
- Edwards Aloha Ken - 98's (looks like a LesPaul with Hawaiian flower finish)
- Squier - Vintage Modified Jazzmaster - Butterscotch Blonde Maple

Project I am working :

- Stratocaster Mystic Blue body (USA - new) with Fender Maple/Maple Neck (MIM - used)
- Mustang Fiesta Red body (MIJ - new) with Fender Vintage 69 Maple/Rosewood Neck (MIJ - new)
- Mustang Shell Pink body 65' (looks like Hello Kitty pink anyway, original but new finish) with Fender 65' Neck (looking for one)
- Jackson King V Sparkling Silver (original parts and finish) Righty to Lefty
- Jackson King V Shoreline Gold (original parts but new finish) Righty to Lefty

not from Fender originals parts or only with a few Fender originals parts:
Left Handed :

- Jaguar Inca Silver and gloss finish with Warmoth 2017 Maple/Maple neck
- Jaguar Lake Placid Blue with White competition stripes and gloss finish with Warmoth 2017 Rosewood/Rosewood neck
- Telecaster Arctic White + Fender USA neck Maple/Maple
- Telecaster Blue Wood Stain / DYE finish and gloss finish with AllParts Maple/Rosewood
- Stratocaster Shoreline Gold

Project finished :
Left Handed
Jazzmaster 'Jim Root' Desert Sand Finish with Warmoth 2003 Maple/Maple Neck
Jazzmaster Graffiti Yellow with Fender Maple/Rosewood

I also have others guitars, sorted by brand and orientation :

Left Handed
Yamaha :
- RGX 421DL transparent wood - 90's

G&L :
- Classic ASAT transparent wood - 2016

Jackson
- Kelly Black - 90's
- Randy Rhoads Transparent Red - 90's

Reverend Guitars
- JetStreem 390 Ocean Green

PureSalem Guitars
- Sad Fester Kelly Green

Washburn Guitars
- Parallaxe V160 White

Dean
- Zero Metallic Silver

Italia :
- Modena Sparkling Blue - 2008

Killer
- Pirates Purple

Ibanez
- RG8 Black (8 strings) - 2016
- Iceman Black - 2016
- SRle 800 (Bass guitar) - 90's

LTD
- Arrow 401 V Military Camo

I am back from holidays with so many new bodies (7) and new necks (8) I found here in the US I'm trying to clean new and find a place to properly stores everything !
Here is a picture of the current messy situation, only 3 guitars not visible plus 2 bodies (hanging elsewhere)

Hope to spend a lot of time on your forum, to learn more things about Fender in general, and parts, repairing, tricks etc... more generally :)

Merci !
Wally

A bigger collection of lefty gear I don't think I've ever seen.
Tres cool.
Welcome.

Thanks all for the warm welcome.

It's a shame I have such little knowledge about guitars. I wish I could do things more by myself. This is not a topic on which all is very intuitive for me.
But at least it learnt me to be patient, cautious and curious :)

I hope one day I'll have the opportunity to buy a vintage lefty Fender.
I found a couple in the past but I failed to purchase them on tim, so I bought newer or more recent Fender models.

I'll try to take pictures of each of them, real Fender, not the look-a-like ones ;)

Very nice collection there. It's starting to look like the longest wall of guitars in North America:

Welcome to Fender's Forums, Wally312.

Impressive it reminds me how a Guiter Center looks like !!
We don't have an equivalent to this in France and in Europe, apart from the big import company called Thomann (which is German) there is nada, nothing, just small shop or companies that rely most of the time on online catalog and very limited stock :'(
USA & Japan for the best !!

Pretty much in agreement there. Except, the curved wall that can hold up to around 700 guitars (and that doesn't count the basses, custom and premium electrics, and acoustic guitars) is in my Canadian neighbourhood, and another of their substantial stores is about 20 minutes away amongst other choice stores. :P
The biggest downside we have in Canada (compared to USA and Japan) is that our population is small in comparison and, although they're available and sometimes grabbed, good used guitars and amps are often snapped up or not made available when the the limited ones do show up. Used gear in the U.S. and prices are like toys in a candy shop to us Canucks.

Despite CITES since January the 1st, USA and Japan have been the best location to find parts or even complete guitars, used and new.
Sometimes it has been tricky to explain, especially in Japan, what to do. Depending on who I had to deal with it ended with an alternative shipping route or asking something to process parcels to me. In the US, by two or three times, I had no possibility to buy instruments, even with local contacts who could have then sent me parts or guitars.
Best performance from me was to find a Jagstang through craiglist, proposed by a pawnshop, get it shipped in Louisiana to someone I know, and then back to France
About a week ago I was in Florida, I managed to get my 7 new guitar bodies, plus both new stratocaster mystic blue and fender fiesta red bodies ....into suitcase, with 10 brand new fender, warmoth and allparts neck and everything lefty !
Took me 2 or 3 months to put everything in order, big project and a bit of money but Nothing compared to how it should have been with customs fees, shipping ports and €/$ conversion fees ;)
The best has to come !

Thanks, for that interesting post, Wally312.

Sounds not unlike here in Canada. Our new stock is pretty good for now; but, as that stock depletes, CITES is sure to kick us in overdrive. We have the same problem with exchange, tax, duty, and shipping rates. Deals on shipping may happen though.

We can have a service that will provide an American address where we order to that service, go just across the border, and pick it up for a small fee. Border restrictions still apply, however.

I believe the Japanese experience is pretty universal, but others may have exceptions.

There has to be so many categories of guitars available. Most of the people prefer acoustic. It not always the type of guitar it's about the music you want to pair with it.

I haven’t any special addresses that I can point you to Wally. You will, however, find the largest dealer across Canada being Long and McQuade, and they are well established with amateurs and professionals with just about everything in the way of music. You’ll find them in French speaking Quebec and English speaking Canada.

Here is their bilingual website where you will find addresses, etc.
