Hi, my name is Nick, from the UK. I've been playing guitar, mostly blues and metal, for 25 years, but I've only really making progress since a few months ago, when I decided to really try learning theory and actually try to cure all my bad habits, such as lack of muting, sloppy picking and lack of consistent bar chord practice. I've had some recent Fender problems with defective new guitars, so I'd like to ask a few questions about quality and what is going on at the factory, to force Fender's customers to be the last stage in their quality control.

All the best, Nick.

Thanks for the welcome chap. :D

I'll post a picture later of the defects on the edge of the fretboard of my new American Pro Strat, to see what people think of what caused it and why the QC didn't spot it.

Cheers, Nick.

Hi Nick.
Welcome to the forum.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Hi Nick! First of all, welcome.

Sorry to hear about your new purchase problem(s). Pictures for sure will be the way to go. QC can be iffy no matter what the brand or product these days - mostly with mass production..That uber expensive other fender (the car) is likely to not be fault free. But. That's another story.
Fender has, according to some, actually been putting out better quality than with some years in the past. Once in a while something slips through the cracks. I can't say why and, even though it shouldn't happen, if you look at competitors you'll find the same no matter what the price, hand made customs being the exception. Although, odds are better, no guarantee amongst these either. At times, QC is rightfully or wrongfully assumed to have been correct from a third party supplier.

I recently bought a new acoustic that was not my first choice, but the QC for my first preferential guitar model was poor overall as were others.

Only later, under different lighting conditions and a more revealing look, did I find minor cosmetic flaws in the one I purchased. The pluses outweighed the minuses in my case, and J didn't want to take the chance of a lesser replacement.

Many times, the needed attention and correction is within easy reach. Sometimes, it simply comes down to a setup or a filing or an adjustment or any other tweak. Pretty common.

Perhaps, you'll find a suitable answer here in the Forum(s), Nick.

Best
FSB
